Specialist, People Experience
Job Description
About Payrails
Payrails is a global payment software company helping leading enterprises to take control of their payment operations and maximize performance. With deep experience in the payments space and firsthand knowledge of merchants' challenges, we’ve seen how fragmented, complex, and inefficient these systems can become. Now, we are setting a new industry standard for how enterprises around the world manage and optimize payments, with more control, visibility and flexibility than ever before.
Our vision is to reimagine payments from the ground up. We are building a deeply integrated meta layer that spans the entire payment lifecycle with a modular architecture. This helps us give leading brands building blocks to craft solutions to most complex operational challenges, tailor seamless customer experiences and grow their business.
We are backed by some of the world’s top investors including Andreessen Horowitz, HV Capital, EQT Ventures and General Catalyst, who share our mission to simplify payment complexity globally.
At Payrails, we’re committed to building a team of exceptional people - not just talented, but driven to build, solve, and deliver at the highest level. Excellence isn’t just a value here; it’s a way of working. We believe that great people thrive in environments where there’s trust, clarity, and shared purpose. We work openly and collaboratively, with deep respect for each other’s craft. Everyone is encouraged to understand the bigger picture - what we’re building, why it matters, and what stands in the way. When people have that context, they move faster, take ownership, and make better decisions. We care about creating a culture where people feel inspired to do their best work and a deep sense of responsibility to help us bring our vision to life. Success at Payrails means staying focused on the problems that matter most, and executing with purpose.
Your team
Our main mission as People team is to ensure that we have an organisation, employees and workplace that wins as one team in the marketplace. We are doing this by:
Constantly researching and understanding how people skills can drive better outcomes and results
Developing the systems, mechanisms and workplace that enables employee and organisational effectiveness
Ensuring we are always relevant to the needs of our internal and external customers
As Specialist, People Experience, you will own People operations and employee experience across our Cairo office and the broader Middle East region, working closely with the People team in Berlin. This is a hands-on generalist role spanning the full employee lifecycle, with real scope to grow into broader People initiatives as the business evolves.
How you will make an impact
Own end-to-end onboarding and off-boarding, making sure new joiners hit the ground running and leavers exit smoothly
Be the go-to people partner for Cairo and Middle East-based employees (UAE, KSA) - building genuine trust and providing the coaching and guidance that helps people thrive at Payrails
Work closely with our Employer of Record (EoR) partner across the Middle East region, managing employment relationships, local compliance, and documentation in both English and Arabic
Ensure full compliance with Egyptian labour law regulations, keeping documentation and processes current
Maintain accurate employee records and keep data up-to-date and compliant in our HRIS - Personio
Lead the planning and delivery of weekly and bi–yearly internal events from logistics through to the experience itself
Drive process documentation and actively champion AI and automation across People workflows - constantly asking how things could work better and building the systems that make it happen
Manage day-to-day office operations, including supplier relationships and facilities coordination for the Cairo hub
Support recruitment activities and coordinate with the Talent team on regional hiring
As the role develops, take on broader People initiatives in partnership with the Berlin team - including performance review cycles, employee engagement programmes, and other projects across the employee lifecycle
What we are looking for
You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law or a related field
You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a generalist People or HR role, ideally within a fast-paced, international environment
You have solid knowledge of Egyptian labour law and experience managing local compliance and employment documentation
You have a genuine interest in AI and automation and how they can be applied to make People processes smarter and more efficient
You are a people person at heart - you build trust easily, communicate with care, and know how to support and coach employees through different situations
You over-communicate, you are detail-oriented and you are highly organised - you don't let things slip through the cracks, and in this role, this is what makes the biggest difference
You take ownership; you spot a problem and fix it, and you're always looking for ways to make things work better
You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic
What we offer
High impact and high velocity environment with the most talented and ambitious people you will ever work with
A chance to shape the story of a company and a category from the ground up
Real ownership. You’ll have the freedom and trust to build, test, and take lead
A product used by the best brands around the world
Hybrid working with an office in the heart of Cairo
Regular team events, activities and off-sites
Competitive salary
Premium Family Medical Insurance Coverage
27 days of annual paid vacation
