Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic, strategic, and deeply curious Senior HR Business Partner to join our People Experience and Technology (PXT) team supporting NA Stores teams in India, along with emerging business verticals including Grocery and Amazon Health.

The Sr. HRBP role exists to power the trajectory of the business by ensuring Amazon has the right talent mix, senior leadership, and capabilities to innovate and deliver exceptional customer experiences. This is both a strategic and hands-on role — you will serve as the leader of people and organizational strategy, accelerating business outcomes through the diagnosis, development, and execution of integrated solutions. You will start with the business first, speak the language of the business, and act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders (Directors and VPs) across a diverse and fast-evolving portfolio.

This role is critical in building and executing our people initiatives across the organization including improving organizational effectiveness & design, leading change management, providing leadership coaching, driving talent planning, and championing HR functional excellence.

Key job responsibilities
Organizational Effectiveness

- Partner with senior leaders (VPs and Directors) and their leadership teams to develop and execute people strategies and planning activities that foster organizational and people effectiveness
- Leverage knowledge of the business, global landscape, and trends — both internal strategy documents (3YP, OP1) and external factors (social, cultural, political, legal environment) — to tailor people-focused solutions and drive business outcomes
- Interpret key people metrics and trends, and leverage mechanisms (MBRs, QBRs, business planning cycles) to inspect and monitor risks, evaluate practices for potential bias or barriers to inclusion, and recommend solutions
- Utilize Amazon Org Design mechanisms and guidance to design, recommend, and implement effective organization structures aligned with business strategy, strengthening culture and enabling inclusive decision-making
- Review and analyze business unit data to identify trends and recommend solutions to improve performance, retention, and employee experience

Senior Leader & Leadership Team Effectiveness

- Assess both long-term and immediate senior leader talent needs and skills to achieve business goals
- Develop strategies to build required senior leader capabilities and establish inclusive pipelines through hiring, build vs. buy approaches, internal development, succession planning, and talent movement
- Serve as a coach, advisor, and truth seeker for individual leaders and leadership teams — improving management and leadership abilities, accelerating inclusive leadership practices, and continuously strengthening culture
- Challenge senior leaders to break mental models on ways of working, biases, structure, and talent decisions

Change Agent

- Use listening mechanisms to identify trends, risks, and hotspots to inform change plans, de-risk the business, and maximize customer experience
- Drive effective change environments by leveraging multiple perspectives in change planning and implementation, using inclusive communication strategies
- Influence and coach senior leaders as they build their teams' ability to navigate unexpected or continuous organizational changes
- Monitor and evaluate whether implemented changes had the intended effects and determine the durability of those changes over time

Talent Planning

- Through senior leader partnerships, build long-term inclusive workforce plans aligned with business objectives, considering cost, skills, and location strategy
- Provide coaching, influence, and support to senior leaders in staying on track with workforce plans, and provide perspective on trade-offs around resourcing critical initiatives
- Anticipate near-term industry trends and talent needs; determine gaps in current and future talent capabilities and propose options to accelerate business objectives
- Proactively create talent goals and cadence with the Senior Leadership team, building inclusive talent mechanisms into the organization's rhythm of business (talent reviews, Q1 compensation planning, MBRs)

HR Functional Excellence & AI Adoption

- Demonstrate curiosity and hands-on adoption of AI tools and resources to enhance HR effectiveness, including using generative AI, HR analytics platforms, and automation to streamline people processes, improve data-driven decision-making, and scale HR impact across a distributed workforce
- Collaborate extensively with other PXT teams — HR Partners, Employee Relations, IXT, Legal, Talent Management — to build and deliver an integrated people plan

About the team
This role supports the NA Stores teams based in India along with emerging business verticals including Grocery and Amazon Health. You will be part of a PXT team that owns and drives the strategic people agenda for a diverse, high-growth portfolio — partnering closely with business leaders across India while collaborating with global HR counterparts to ensure alignment and consistency in people strategy.
