The FOC Technical Specialist is responsible for ensuring global continuity in training, qualifications, certifications, event management, and program delivery across multiple FOC instances. The role combines technical subject matter expertise in data centre infrastructure with the ability to develop and maintain programs that raise the technical bar, drive operational excellence, and deliver measurable improvements to the FOC operation.

The FOC Data Centre Infrastructure Operations organisation is looking for an individual with proven skills to join the Facility Operations Centre (FOC). The FOC is responsible for 24/7 monitoring of data center physical infrastructure.

The Technical Specialist may own one or more of the following program areas: training development and qualification pathways, event management quality and optimisation, or new site launch and colocation program delivery. All Technical Specialists operate as force multipliers for the FOC, ensuring consistent standards, knowledge transfer, and program execution across all regions and partitions.

The FOC Technical Specialist manages medium-to-high impact projects from conception to completion. These projects involve independent work and collaboration with internal and external support groups including engineering, controls, automation, DCEO, and data analytics teams. The role trains and supports FOC engineers in their 24/7 monitoring and alarm notification responsibilities, including implementation of site, equipment, and design-specific training exercises covering EPMS, BMS, controls monitoring equipment, stand-by diesel generators, transformers, switchgear, breakers, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, and VFDs.
The Technical Specialist will develop specific solutions, build and maintain programs that scale with the growth of the business, and collaborate with commercial teams to share knowledge and adopt best practices where applicable.
The ideal candidate will act as a subject matter expert in data centre infrastructure across various data centre designs. They will ensure overall availability and reliability meets or exceeds defined service levels. If you are passionate about the customer experience, think and act globally, and want to contribute to the operational excellence of Amazon Data Centres, this may be the role for you.

A day in the life
The FOC Technical Specialist operates across regions and clusters. Depending on the specialism, a typical day may involve reviewing event data and AARs to identify improvement opportunities, developing training content for upcoming qualification assessments, coordinating new site launch milestones with partner teams, progressing program deliverables, or collaborating with controls, DCEO, and commercial FOC teams. About the team
The Facility Operations Centre (FOC) is a support team which proactively monitors the life-safety systems and infrastructure equipment alarms (e.g., chillers, temperature sensors, generators, UPSs, switchgear, breakers, PDUs, and ATSs) that provide power and cooling to the platform on a 24x7x365 basis. We support Data Centre Engineering Operations (DCEO) teams who are responsible for the operation of infrastructure equipment. Our role is to ensure that critical alarms are properly Responded to, Acknowledged, Investigated, and Dispatched (RAID). The FOC also serves as a communications hub during both standard and emergency operations and manages planned work (MCMs).
