full-timeProject/Program/Product Management--TechnicalJob Description
Do you want to drive large-scale programs that deliver measurable infrastructure optimization and peak readiness across hundreds of services powering hundreds of millions of Amazon devices? Do you want to use AI to scale your impact and automate program execution along the way? If so, we want to talk to you.
The Devices Software and Services (DS2) team is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead large-scale, highly visible programs that span every Devices product line and demand cross-org influence at the executive level. These programs are Memory Optimization and Peak Readiness. Memory Optimization reduces memory consumption across Devices fleets through code optimization, JVM tuning, instance-family migration, and rightsizing, using AI to identify opportunities at scale and accelerate the analysis-to-action cycle. Peak Readiness is the cross-Devices Q4 Peak program covering service scaling, resiliency testing, operational readiness campaigns, and coordinated game days across hundreds of services, using AI to scale beyond manual coordination and automate game day execution.
DS2 owns the platform layer beneath every Kindle, Echo, Fire TV, and Fire Tablet sold worldwide. We own device identity, registration, OTA updates, telemetry, cloud-to-device messaging, and lifecycle management for hundreds of millions of devices. As the horizontal organization across the Devices portfolio, DS2 also leads flagship programs spanning multiple product lines, including infrastructure optimization and efficiency, next-gen authentication implementations, and software regulatory compliance.
If you'd like to join us, here are some skills that are key to success in this role:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Well-developed organizational skills and a successful track record of coordinating between multiple project stakeholders, TPMs, and software development teams
- Foster a culture of candor and respect, facilitating communication at all levels
- Effective negotiation skills; able to make smart trade-offs (e.g., time vs. effort vs. cost), drive appropriate schedules, and readjust priorities to ensure the right customer, technology, and engineering outcomes
- Ability to deliver results and balance short-term goals against long-term outcomes
Key job responsibilities
- Deliver high-priority and high-visibility goals spanning multiple organizations
- Drive monthly and quarterly business reviews and provide program updates to leaders 3 levels above
- Influence organization roadmap priorities and technical direction
- Represent difficult trade-off decisions and solutions clearly to leaders up to 3 levels above, helping them understand options
- Manage cross-functional and cross-organization communication to keep stakeholders informed and aligned
- Guide technical direction and decisions to deliver solutions that meet Amazon's high standards for customer satisfaction, efficiency, stability, scalability, simplicity, and operational excellence
