Job Description

What you'll do:

As an Accountant in this contract position based in Singapore, you will play an integral role in upholding the accuracy and reliability of the organisation’s financial operations during a critical period. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve managing end-to-end month-end close activities, preparing detailed financial reports with insightful commentary for management use, and collaborating with various departments to provide expert accounting advice. You will also be responsible for reviewing contracts to determine correct accounting treatments while maintaining robust internal controls. Your ability to respond efficiently to audit requests and contribute to process improvements will be highly valued. Success in this role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach when working with colleagues across different functions. By supporting both routine tasks and special projects, you will help ensure that the finance team continues to operate smoothly during this transitional period.

  • Support comprehensive month-end close activities by preparing, reviewing, and finalising journal entries to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting across multiple entities.
  • Conduct detailed balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis to maintain the integrity of financial data and highlight key trends for management review.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports, providing insightful analytical commentary that supports effective decision-making by senior stakeholders.
  • Review contracts thoroughly to assess appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with relevant accounting standards and company policies, ensuring all transactions are accurately reflected.
  • Partner collaboratively with commercial, operations, legal, and FP&A teams to deliver expert accounting guidance and foster strong interdepartmental relationships.
  • Maintain and enhance core accounting processes and internal controls to guarantee operational continuity throughout the maternity cover period.
  • Respond promptly to audit requests by compiling necessary documentation and ensuring full compliance with internal policies as well as external reporting requirements.
  • Contribute actively to ad hoc finance projects, process improvements, and new reporting initiatives that drive efficiency within the finance function.
  • Provide ongoing support for system enhancements or transitions involving ERP platforms such as SAP or Oracle, ensuring smooth integration into existing workflows.

What you bring:

To excel as an Accountant in this contract role, you will bring proven experience from similar positions where you have managed complex month-end close cycles and delivered high-quality financial reports under pressure. Your background should include exposure to multinational or technology-focused organisations where collaboration across regions is essential. A recognised professional qualification such as CA/CPA/ACCA will set you apart by highlighting your commitment to best practices. Your technical skills should extend beyond traditional bookkeeping; familiarity with ERP systems like SAP or Oracle is crucial for handling high transaction volumes efficiently. Strong interpersonal skills are vital as you’ll interact regularly with colleagues from commercial, legal, operations, and FP&A teams—your ability to communicate clearly ensures everyone remains aligned on key objectives. Additionally, your keen eye for detail allows you to identify discrepancies quickly while your proactive approach helps drive process improvements that benefit the wider finance function.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline demonstrating a solid academic foundation for technical accounting work.
  • CA/CPA/ACCA qualification or equivalent is preferred as it reflects advanced knowledge of industry standards.
  • A minimum of 4–7 years’ experience in accounting roles with significant exposure to financial reporting responsibilities within multinational or technology-driven environments.
  • Comprehensive understanding of core accounting principles including month-end close processes which ensures accurate record-keeping under tight deadlines.
  • Proven experience reviewing contracts and applying technical accounting treatments according to established standards is advantageous for this position.
  • Prior involvement within shared services or fast-paced commercial settings is desirable as it demonstrates adaptability in complex organisations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel coupled with hands-on experience using ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle enhances your ability to manage large volumes of data efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills combined with strong stakeholder management abilities enable you to build positive relationships across diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated capacity for independent work while effectively managing competing priorities within strict timelines shows your dependability.
