Cloudera Platform Engineer (24x7 Operations – Banking)

Overview

We are seeking a Cloudera Platform Engineer / Solution Consultant to support and enhance a large-scale Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) in a 24x7 managed services environment. This role combines platform operations, solution design, and customer-facing consulting, focusing on building and maintaining scalable Big Data and data engineering solutions using CDP, NiFi, Spark, and Kafka in a highly regulated banking environment.

Responsibilities

Platform Operations (24x7 Support)

• Provide 24x7 shift-based support across Production, DR, UAT, SIT, and Development environments.
• Monitor platform health and respond to alerts, incidents, and service requests in line with SLAs.
• Perform incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), and remediation.
• Execute patching, upgrades, configuration changes, and cluster maintenance.
• Conduct health checks, housekeeping, and capacity optimization.
• Support DR drills, audits, and compliance requirements.

Solution Design & Engineering

• Design and implement scalable Big Data solutions using CDP ecosystem tools (HDFS, Spark, Hive, Kafka, NiFi).
• Architect and deploy secure, high-performance Cloudera clusters (on-prem or hybrid cloud).
• Develop data ingestion, ETL/ELT pipelines, and streaming solutions.
• Analyze production environments and recommend performance optimizations.
• Apply standard data architecture patterns for batch and real-time processing.

Consulting & Stakeholder Engagement

• Work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Lead or support architecture discussions, solution walkthroughs, and technical presentations.
• Collaborate with engineering, data, and platform teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
• Create technical documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles.

Governance & Continuous Improvement

• Contribute to monthly service reviews, SLA reporting, and operational governance.
• Identify and drive automation and process improvements.
• Maintain documentation for platform, processes, and architectural decisions.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5–8+ years in Big Data / Data Platform engineering or architecture roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with Cloudera CDP (or Hadoop ecosystem), Spark, Hive, Kafka, NiFi, Data ingestion, ETL/ELT pipelines, and streaming architectures.
• Experience with data warehousing, data integration, distributed systems, Linux/Unix systems and cluster operations.
• Experience working in production support / 24x7 environments.
• Strong understanding of security (LDAP/AD, Kerberos, TLS).
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimize large-scale distributed systems.
• Banking or financial services experience in regulated environments with strict SLA requirements.
• Experience with Cloudera cluster deployment, upgrades, and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with Java ecosystem (debugging, logging, profiling).
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals and distributed infrastructure.
