Job Description

Job Responsibilities: 

Technical SME for the Bank’s Data Network 

  • Act as the Technical SME and senior escalation point for the Bank’s Data Network. 

  • Provide technical ownership across data centre network, LAN/WAN, campus, wireless, SD-WAN, load balancer, GSLB, SASE, Akamai, and internet edge services. 

  • Define network standards, architecture principles, configuration baselines, technical patterns, and operational best practices. 

  • Review complex designs, changes, incidents, vulnerabilities, risks, and audit findings from a technical SME perspective. 

  • Provide expert guidance to network engineers, operations teams, project teams, application teams, security teams, and senior stakeholders. 

Design, Build, Planning and Transformation 

  • Lead the design, planning, build, implementation, and support of enterprise network infrastructure. 

  • Develop scalable, secure, resilient, and operationally sustainable designs for data centre, LAN/WAN, campus, wireless, SD-WAN, load balancer, GSLB, SASE, and internet edge environments. 

  • Prepare and review design documents, implementation plans, migration plans, test plans, rollback plans, SOPs, and operational runbooks. 

  • Drive data centre migration, infrastructure transformation, technology refresh, and network modernisation initiatives. 

  • Ensure architecture aligns to banking-grade requirements for availability, security, auditability, control, and operational resilience. 

Mandatory Hands-on Engineering and Troubleshooting 

  • Perform hands-on configuration, troubleshooting, implementation, and advanced fault isolation across enterprise network platforms. 

  • Troubleshoot complex issues involving routing, switching, packet loss, latency, application connectivity, DNS/GSLB, load balancing, firewall path, SD-WAN, wireless, and performance degradation. 

  • Analyse packet captures using Wireshark, TCP dump, or equivalent tools to support root cause analysis and incident resolution. 

  • Personally support major incidents, service restoration, RCA, problem management, and permanent fix implementation. 

  • Review configurations, validate designs, assess network flows, and provide technical direction during critical incidents and major changes. 

Team Leadership, Project Execution and Operations 

  • Lead and guide network engineering and operations teams across project delivery, BAU support, incident resolution, and change execution. 

  • Drive end-to-end delivery from design, planning, implementation, testing, documentation, and operational handover. 

  • Mentor engineers, improve technical capability, and promote knowledge transfer and engineering discipline. 

  • Lead day-to-day network operations, escalation handling, service stability, capacity planning, availability tracking, and operational dashboards. 

  • Manage vendor coordination, OEM/service provider governance, SLA tracking, lifecycle management, patch tracking, asset/inventory control, and operational escalations. 

Change, Risk, Vulnerability, Audit and Compliance 

  • Review network change requests, implementation plans, risk assessments, impact analysis, test plans, and rollback procedures. 

  • Ensure changes are planned, documented, approved, tested, executed, and validated in line with internal change management processes. 

  • Participate in CAB/change review discussions, provide technical inputs, and conduct post-change reviews to improve future execution. 

  • Manage vulnerability remediation, patching, firmware upgrades, security advisories, platform hardening, EOS/EOL risks, and configuration gaps. 

  • Support internal and external audits by providing evidence, technical explanations, control validation, remediation plans, and closure updates. 

  • Ensure network configurations, privileged access, change records, vulnerability actions, and operational processes align with bank policies, security standards, and regulatory expectations. 

Process Improvement and Automation 

  • Continuously improve network operations, incident handling, change execution, documentation, and service reliability. 

  • Standardise designs, reduce manual effort, improve repeatability, and strengthen governance through templates, runbooks, automation, dashboards, and knowledge sharing. 

  • Drive improvements in operational efficiency, incident reduction, audit readiness, vulnerability closure, and service stability. 

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 14 years of experience in network engineering, infrastructure operations, and enterprise infrastructure delivery. 

  • Experience in network configuration, troubleshooting, implementation, operational support, and incident resolution. 

  • Experience as a Technical SME / senior escalation point for enterprise data network infrastructure. 

  • Ability to independently configure, troubleshoot, review, and validate complex enterprise network solutions. 

  • Strong hands-on experience in packet capture analysis, network fault isolation, application connectivity troubleshooting, RCA, and major incident support. 

  • Experience leading network engineering, infrastructure operations, or NOC teams in enterprise-scale, mission-critical, or regulated environments; banking or financial services experience is preferred. 

  • Must be willing to participate in a weekend on-call/standby rotation to support major incidents, high-priority escalations, and critical service restoration activities across the APAC region. 

  • Strong experience in change management, technical change review, implementation governance, audit delivery, vulnerability remediation, risk management, and compliance support. 

  • Strong vendor, OEM, managed service partner, service provider, SLA governance, stakeholder management, documentation, and executive reporting experience.
