Position Responsibilities:

Employee Contribution: As Technical Program Manager III, the employee establishes the program management framework, develops the integrated schedule, and continuously coordinates internal and external execution teams, business owners responsible for network topology, and operations teams who will run the facilities. The employee has the technical depth to independently resolve design, integration, and operational issues for automated material handling equipment, ensuring programs meet schedule, cost, and quality targets. Examples include: selecting financially optimal sites; mitigating schedule delays to prevent cascading milestone slips; implementing design change requests without delaying go-live; and accommodating changes in regulatory or internal safety requirements. The employee organizes and leads all stages of program execution, from collecting business requirements and translating them into functional and technical specifications, through design alignment, site selection, construction, firm engineering, and installation of material handling equipment.

Project: Peak Capacity Initiative. A high-priority program to increase fulfillment capacity during peak business periods, such as preparing for the 2026 Peak season (Thanksgiving to Christmas). This initiative explores all opportunities to add capacity quickly, including compressing execution schedules of in-flight fulfillment center launches and retrofits, deploying temporary assets, and increasing throughput in the existing fulfillment network.

Employee Contribution: As Technical Program Manager III, the employee develops and maintains the program management framework, including goals and tenets, meeting cadence, tracking and reporting standards, and escalation protocols. They organize project intake, vet and shortlist promising opportunities, conduct technical feasibility reviews, and perform financial assessments to support region-level capacity proposals for senior leadership, including the Senior Vice President for Worldwide Operations. Following project selection, the employee tracks progress across all projects, resolves technical and organizational issues, and prepares regular SVP-level updates and escalations. Examples of issues include resource constraints in participating organizations, conflicting priorities across business lines, vendor capacity limitations requiring strategic and technical decisions, and adjustments to Amazon policies and standard work to meet compressed timelines.

Coordinate and manage technical project and program development throughout the complete product development lifecycle. Define projects, collect business requirements, and write functional and technical specifications. Drive product development efforts and manage priorities for project/program completion. Create schedules, identify and communicate risks to stakeholders, define risk mitigation strategies, and facilitate appropriate engineering solutions. Manage cross-functional teams and/or third party-vendors for implementation of project/program requirements.

Position Requirements:

Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and one year of experience in the job offered or as a Project Lead, Product Manager, Software Engineer, or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation as equivalent to the Master's degree and one year of experience. Must have one year of experience in the following skill(s): (1) managing technical projects from design to production, executing complex programs end-to-end; (2) coordinating cross-functional teams in hardware or software engineering; and (3) building sustainable processes, developing program schedules, and driving architecture, engineering, and integration decisions and timelines.
