full-timeSystems, Quality, & Security EngineeringJob Description
Our team is responsible for and growing an innovative global project that informs and drives larger company strategic decisions. We identify and improve the experience for Amazon's customers through various methodologies and by building and managing software solutions across a wide range of technical stacks.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of systems and security engineers that designs, builds, and manages a multi-cloud infrastructure and security posture for a diverse portfolio of tools and services. Your team will establish and enforce security standards aligned with Amazon InfoSec guidelines, evaluate the security of tools built or onboarded by the broader organization, and develop systems to manage and monitor access controls across the team's technology footprint. You will also own day-to-day IT operations and access management for the org.
This role will provide you with challenging leadership opportunities, and if working in a dynamic multi-cloud environment with evolving security requirements and experimenting with the AI / Agentic technologies sounds exciting to you, it will be a great opportunity.
You will be in direct contact with teams in a variety of verticals, work with Amazon InfoSec, and leverage your work to improve the experience of our customers. You will be using your leadership and technical skills to continually lead the direction and evolution of the team and orchestrate the right balance and trade-off that allows the team to continue to adapt in this rapidly evolving space. Additionally, you'll be driving strategic initiatives by influencing key stakeholders and partnering with teams within our org. You must also demonstrate resilience and navigate ambiguous situations with composure and tact.
You will evaluate and make decisions around the use of new or existing technologies and tools, influence leaders, and have an opportunity to learn from people with and without engineering backgrounds through one-on-one mentoring, document reviews (designs, PRFAQs, business plans, researches and more) and thorough and helpful code reviews. You will be given the chance to have a significant impact on our systems, our business and most importantly, our customers. You will be expected to mentor and guide junior engineers.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and implement security frameworks and access control systems to manage and monitor the team's tools, services, and infrastructure in alignment with Amazon InfoSec standards.
- Evaluate the security posture of all tools and services built or onboarded by the team, establishing approval and review processes for new technology adoption.
- Build and maintain tooling for identity, access management, and compliance monitoring across the team's technology portfolio.
- Own day-to-day IT operations for the org, including: managing permissions across Amazon and internal and external tools, administering access within the team's network.
- Lead the strategic direction and evolution of the team's infrastructure and security architecture, including setting goals and establishing a technical roadmap that aligns with the longer-term needs of the org.
- Drive strategic initiatives by influencing leadership, key stakeholders, and partnering with teams throughout Amazon.
- Lead effective teamwork, communication, collaboration, and commitment across multiple disparate groups with competing priorities.
- Lead innovations and improvements to internal programs and processes that drive key business outputs.
