A
Manager, Software Engineering, AWS Elastic Beanstalk
Jersey City, New Jersey, USA
full-timeSoftware DevelopmentJob Description
Amazon's Elastic Beanstalk service is looking for a Software Engineering Manager for one of our development teams that builds and operates platform management, environment orchestration, and runtime infrastructure. We have an ambitious roadmap that seeks to redefine how our customers build their applications and deploy them at scale on AWS.
Amazon Elastic Beanstalk allows our customers to deploy and scale web applications and services without the undifferentiated heavy lifting required to manage underlying infrastructure. Our mission is to accelerate the adoption of AWS by providing the best possible experience for customers deploying their applications. We are expanding our team to help build additional features for our customers. This is a great time to join a growing team and help influence what we can do for customers who are adopting Elastic Beanstalk as part of their AWS deployment strategy.
As a leader on the Elastic Beanstalk team you will be responsible for building and owning core services responsible for environment provisioning, platform updates, and managed deployment pipelines. The team's charter is to manage application runtime environments and related software components that help monitor, scale, and repair infrastructure. It is a critical team that helps manage production workload infrastructure across a wide variety of customer application types.
Your team will build solutions to ensure the safety and stability of software the team operates, integrate with other AWS services with an eye towards simple and streamlined interfaces. You will own staffing and managing the engineering team, product development, setting the team culture, best practices, and organizational planning. The successful candidate will be able to deal with ambiguity and will need to think big.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about the potential of cloud computing, and about building simple and elegant software solutions and customer-centric products. This leader has thrived and succeeded in delivering high quality technology products/services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. The candidate is a leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly and compellingly and who understands how to drive a high level of focus and excellence with a strong team. AWS in general, and this business in particular, operates at very large scale and on critical
workloads, so a passion and discipline around operational excellence is key. A high level of ownership and accountability is a must.
