Micron Technology, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Technology Development (TD) Process Pathfinding Leader in their STG (Storage Technology Group) organization. This is an opportunity to direct and lead a team of technologists working with the most advanced semiconductor processes in the world!
In this role, you and your team will advance 3D NAND/NVM vertical scaling by overcoming challenges such as tier pitch scaling, developing novel vectors to increase string current, high aspect ratio structure formation, cell film development for novel architectures, and disruptive replacement gate processing.
You will develop, drive, and maintain process technology roadmaps with a focus on high-risk future needs. You will work with cross-functional teams in Process Integration, Process Development, Advanced Modeling and Device Engineering as well as with Leadership teams to establish long term process technology roadmaps and strategies to deliver silicon-based solutions for future memory product needs.
Responsibilities:
- Drive process and chemistry path-finding portion of Process Technology Roadmap for NVM memory technologies. Collaborate with equipment and material (e.g., chemistry and deposition precursors) suppliers to drive innovative and disruptive technology development, ensure alignment and timely progress to pathfinding projects, as well as foster a productive relationship.
- Vision of the future potential of new materials and methods being explored as part of academic and consortium projects to guide potential for roadmap solution and selection of internal projects.
- Work with partner organizations, engineering teams, and TD fabs to coordinate process technology pathfinding activities related to established roadmaps.
- Alignment of process technology roadmaps across process development disciplines to ensure understanding and alignment of pathfinding activity and allocation of resources.
- Provide regular updates on Pathfinding strategy and progress to Senior Leadership.
- Provide clear and practical feedback to your team to support their personal and career development needs consistent with established people leader expectations.
- Ensure robust application of intellectual property protocols.
- Regularly align project priorities, timelines, and resource needs with Leadership and Stakeholders.
- Identify, define, and drive Cooperative Development Agreement/Statement of work agreements (CDA/SOW) and related work where appropriate to increase level and scope of Micron exclusivity of equipment, chemistry, and process solutions.
- Manage process pathfinding lab equipment, chemical synthesis, and modeling strategy.
Required Skills and Background:
- Good understanding and experience with process technology development business processes and strategy.
- Deep understanding of memory technologies, semiconductor processing and devices, surface science and analytic methods related materials properties.
- Ability to work on multiple projects, work through cross-disciplinary and cross-organizational logistical issues.
- Expertise in semiconductor process technology assessment to achieve rational risk assessment.
- Proven ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and customers.
- Strong executive presentation skills and experience.
- Strong teamwork and matrix management skills.
- Proven ability to solicit feedback, accept input, and analyze success/failure of self and team.
Required Experience:
- Proven track record of leading innovation across both large and small teams, consistently delivering against critical milestones.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Process and/or Module Development or closely related technical domains.
- Preferred experience spanning at least two process areas, with a strong network of supplier and industry partnerships.
- Demonstrated technical leadership capabilities, prior experience leading technical teams is highly desirable.
Required Education:
PhD in Materials Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or similar field is preferred. Exceptional candidates with MS or BS will be considered.
