About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced KYB Lead to lead merchant onboarding and business verification within Mercuryo’s rapidly growing crypto payments infrastructure.
This role sits at the center of our FinCrime operations, ensuring all merchants are onboarded with the highest level of regulatory integrity, operational efficiency, and risk awareness.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the KYB team, approving complex onboarding cases, maintaining strict SLA performance, and ensuring all KYB processes meet global AML and regulatory standards.
We are looking for a highly organized, operationally minded leader who thrives in fast-paced fintech environments, is deeply data-driven, and maintains an exceptional eye for detail.
Your Role:
- Lead and manage the KYB team, ensuring high standards of performance, accuracy, and accountability.
- Mentor and develop KYB analysts to maintain a high-performing operational team.
- Ensure the team consistently meets SLA targets and quality benchmarks.
- Review and approve complex KYB cases, including high-risk industries and sophisticated corporate structures.
- Ensure all onboarding processes comply with internal policies, AML frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain rigorous quality control across all KYB reviews.
- Monitor team performance through data, reporting, and operational metrics.
- Produce regular operational reports and performance dashboards.
- Ensure processes remain efficient, scalable, and well documented.
- Continuously identify and implement process improvements.
- Ensure KYB procedures remain aligned with global AML regulations and internal risk policies.
- Support internal audits, regulatory reviews, and compliance checks.
- Stay up to date with evolving regulatory frameworks affecting crypto, fintech, and payments.
- Work closely with Compliance, Fraud, Transaction Monitoring, Customer Success, and Sales teams to ensure smooth merchant onboarding.
- Provide operational insight into merchant risk profiles and onboarding challenges.
What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years experience in KYB / AML / Compliance operations.
- Previous experience managing or leading KYB teams.
- Experience within crypto, fintech, payments, or financial services.
- Strong experience onboarding high-risk merchant categories.
- Strong understanding of AML regulations and KYB frameworks.
- Experience reviewing complex corporate structures and beneficial ownership.
- Strong data-driven mindset, comfortable with reporting and performance analysis.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Highly organised and operationally structured.
- Ability to perform in high-volume, fast-paced environments.
- Strong decision-making and risk assessment skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
