About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Head of Finance & Tax to lead the financial management, prudential oversight, and tax governance of its Spanish entity, which is currently applying for authorisation as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) under the EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA). 

The role combines traditional financial leadership with responsibility for regulatory capital oversight, financial risk monitoring, safeguarding frameworks, and regulatory reporting obligations associated with CASP authorisation. 

As part of an international group of regulated financial institutions (including EMIs, VASPs, MSBs and other fintech entities), the Head of Finance & Tax will ensure that the Spanish entity maintains robust and independent financial governance, regulatory compliance, and alignment with group financial standards. 


Your Role:

  • Lead and oversee the full finance function for the Spanish CASP entity. 
  • Manage accounting operations including: general ledger, financial close, reconciliation management, financial controls and documentation. 
  • Ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards and group reporting requirements. 
  • Establish robust internal financial control frameworks appropriate for a regulated financial institution. 
  • Implementation of MiCA prudential financial governance frameworks. 
  • Ongoing monitoring of regulatory capital and own funds requirements. 
  • Regular stress tests of financial and operational resilience. 
  • Development and maintenance of regulatory capital monitoring dashboards and escalation processes. 
  • Ensuring the entity maintains the required capital buffers at all times. 
  • Preparation of regulatory financial documentation required for CASP licence. 
  • Coordination of prudential reporting to the competent authority. 
  • Ensure proper segregation of client funds and crypto-assets from corporate assets. 
  • Monitor financial flows related to safeguarding arrangements. 
  • Ensure reconciliation processes correctly identify and match between on-chain balances, client ledgers, and financial records. 
  • Own the entire Financial Risk Monitoring System in strong collaboration with our Head of Risk.  
  • Prepare and deliver Monthly Management Information (MIS) reports for senior management and the Board. 
  • Produce financial dashboards, KPIs, and variance analyses supporting strategic decisions. 
  • Ensure alignment between local reporting and group financial reporting frameworks. 
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and financial planning cycles. 
  • Develop rolling forecasts and scenario modelling to support business growth and capital planning. 
  • Ensure financial projections are aligned with regulatory capital requirements. 
  • Manage all tax compliance and reporting obligations for the Spanish entity. 
  • Coordinate with tax advisors and tax authorities. 
  • Oversee emerging crypto tax reporting obligations including: 
  • DAC8 reporting 
  • OECD Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF) 
  • Ensure appropriate tax governance, documentation, and reporting. 


What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or similar. 
  • Professional qualification preferred (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, Chartered Accountant). 
  • 8+ years experience in finance leadership roles. 
  • Experience in regulated financial institutions (fintech, EMI, payment institution, investment firm, or crypto firm). 
  • Experience with regulatory finance, prudential capital frameworks, or supervisory reporting. 
  • Knowledge of crypto-asset businesses and CASP operations strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of financial governance in regulated environments. 
  • Understanding of MiCA regulatory framework and CASP prudential requirements. 
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and leadership skills.. 
  • Ability to operate in a fast-growing fintech / crypto environment 
  • Strong sense of regulatory responsibility and integrity 
  • Detail-oriented and highly organised 
  • Strategic mindset combined with hands-on operational capability 
  • Ability to work within a global group structure 
  • The successful candidate will be subject to a mandatory F&P pre-assessment. 
  • Must meet Annex II – Skills of the EBA/ESMA suitability guidelines for members of the management body and key function holders. 
  • Must meet ESMA Fit & Proper assessment guidelines for CASPs under MiCA. 
  • The ideal candidate has already previously obtained a F&P approval.
