MEP ENGINEER (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing)

An MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Engineer designs, plans, and oversees the installation of the core utility systems that make buildings functional and habitable. They ensure these complex systems integrate seamlessly while meeting strict safety codes, sustainability targets, and budget requirements.

Responsibilities:

1. System Design: Develop technical specifications, load calculations, and design layouts for HVAC (Mechanical), power distribution and lighting (Electrical), and water/waste networks (Plumbing).

2. Cross-Disciplinary Coordination: Work closely with architects, structural engineers, and contractors to prevent system clashes and ensure cohesive project execution.

3. Compliance & Safety: Ensure all plans adhere to local building codes, fire regulations, and energy standards.

4. Installation Oversight: Monitor on-site construction to ensure subcontractors install systems accurately according to blueprints and safety standards.

5. Testing & Commissioning: Execute rigorous inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of MEP systems to verify they operate at maximum efficiency before handover.

Skills & Qualifications:

1. Technical Software: Proficiency in Building Information Modeling (BIM) platforms and CAD software like Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.

2. Analytical Abilities: Strong capability in performing complex calculations (e.g., heat load, electrical single-line diagrams, piping layouts).

3. Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving, project management, and cross-team communication abilities.

4. Education: Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering. Professional certifications (like the Professional Engineer (PE) license or a PEB-recognized degree in Singapore) are highly preferred for senior roles.
