Engineering Manager - Product Development/R&D (China based)

Our client is a global technology-driven manufacturer specializing in industrial testing, laboratory and quality assurance equipment. The company is expanding its engineering and product development capabilities in China and is seeking an engineering leader to drive product innovation, operational excellence and team development.

The role focuses on building strong engineering capabilities, establishing robust SOPs and product development processes, and improving speed, quality and efficiency of product delivery.

This position will also drive engineering transformation through AI-enabled tools, digital workflows and process automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Equipment/Product Development and Engineering team in China.
• Build, train, mentor and develop engineering talent to support business growth.
• Establish, implement and continuously improve Product Development SOPs, engineering processes and governance frameworks.
• Standardize product development workflows to improve efficiency, product quality and speed-to-market.
• Drive the integration of AI tools and technologies across the engineering and product development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations and Commercial teams to ensure successful product development and launch.
• Develop technical training programs and engineering best practices.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives across engineering operations and product development processes.
• Manage project timelines, resources and deliverables to ensure successful execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline
• Proven experience in Engineering Manager, Equipment / Product Development roles
• Strong background in industrial equipment, laboratory equipment, testing systems, machinery or instrumentation
• Solid experience in SOP implementation, engineering workflows, and product development processes
• Must have experience leading engineering or product development teams in China
• Proven experience building, scaling or transforming engineering teams
• Strong cross-functional experience in multicultural environments
• Exposure to AI tools, automation or digital engineering transformation is an advantage
