Job Description

Credit Approver (GFIG) is responsible for evaluating  detailed credit analysis based on information furnished by the borrower, publicly available information, the BU's evaluation of the borrower's credit needs, and the ability to pay across a range of products against credit standards set by the organization. Financial Institutions Banking covers activities related to providing banking products and advice to institutions ranging from banks to non-bank financial institutions Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite/approve credit cases for FI client segment within approved risk appetite and origination policies.
  • Monitor credit quality of FI portfolios, including via individual or portfolio credit review and stress test, and adopt or recommend pre-emptive risk mitigation measures when appropriate.
  • Review and evaluate credit proposals and internal ratings and ensure that well-rounded and comprehensive evaluations are available for credit authority holders’ decision, with minimal delay in required turnaround time nor delinquency in review schedule.
  • Assign sovereign ratings and propose/concur country risk limits.
  • Participate to ensure internal rating models and FI portfolio related credit policy and procedures are up-to-date and highly relevant.
  • Contribute credit opinions to new proposal or review of FI related financial products, including various Frameworks which facilitate timely customer onboarding and execution of transactions.
  • Manage and develop the Group Credit (FI) team to ensure high productivity and smooth succession upon attrition.
  • Initiate or participate in ad hoc projects as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
  • 15+ years’ experience in credit risk management with a focus on financial institutions.
  • Strong leadership skills and proven success in people and business management.
  • Acumen in the dynamics of global macroeconomics and financial regulatory regimes, and their relationship with soundness of major banking systems to which UOB has exposure.
  • Strong communication skills and sensitivity in balancing business needs and risk control.
  • Familiarity with loan, trade finance and treasury market products.
  • Front line experience as relationship and/or sales manager a plus.
