Job Description

Role Overview

The Program Manager is responsible for end-to-end management of customer programs and projects for Fu Yu Singapore, supporting customers globally. This role oversees multiple programs across different stages of the product lifecycle, from project initiation and development through NPI and mass production.

In addition to direct project ownership, the Program Manager leads, mentors, and manages a team of Program Engineers, ensuring disciplined program execution, cross-functional alignment, and consistent delivery performance across Fu Yu’s regional manufacturing sites.

Key Responsibilities

1. Program & Project Management

• Own and manage multiple customer programs concurrently from project award through mass production

• Define project scope, objectives, timelines, deliverables, and success criteria

• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and milestones

• Monitor program progress and proactively identify risks, issues, and dependencies

• Drive timely resolution of program issues related to cost, quality, delivery, and scope

• Ensure projects are executed in accordance with Fu Yu’s internal processes and customer requirements

• Lead regular project reviews and status meetings with internal teams and customers

2. Leadership & People Management

• Lead, manage, and develop a team of Program Engineers / Project Engineers

• Assign programs and workloads based on capability, complexity, and priorities

• Provide coaching, guidance, and technical direction to ensure consistent program execution

• Set clear objectives and performance expectations for team members

• Conduct regular performance reviews, feedback sessions, and capability development discussions

• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

3. Customer & Stakeholder Management

• Act as the primary program interface for assigned customers globally

• Build strong working relationships with customer project, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams

• Lead customer meetings, program reviews, and milestone discussions

• Manage customer expectations related to scope, timelines, and deliverables

• Support customer audits, program escalations, and executive-level communications as required

4. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Work closely with internal Engineering, Design, Tooling, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain teams

• Facilitate alignment between customer requirements and internal technical and manufacturing capabilities

• Ensure timely engineering inputs, DFM reviews, design changes, and validation activities

• Coordinate tooling development, sample builds, and qualification activities

• Drive cross-functional problem-solving for technical or execution challenges

5. Liaison with Engineering & Design Teams

• Serve as the bridge between customer requirements and Fu Yu’s Engineering and Design teams

• Lead discussions on product design, manufacturability, and process feasibility

• Coordinate engineering change requests (ECRs) and engineering change orders (ECOs)

• Ensure design intent, specifications, and changes are clearly communicated and documented

• Align engineering deliverables with program timelines and customer expectations

6. Regional Site & Project Coordination

• Coordinate program execution across Fu Yu’s regional manufacturing sites in Singapore, Malaysia, and China

• Support site selection discussions based on capability, capacity, cost, and risk considerations

• Align regional teams on project timelines, responsibilities, and deliverables

• Facilitate cross-site communication to ensure smooth NPI transfer and ramp-up

• Support regional project reviews, escalation management, and issue resolution

7. Commercial & Operational Oversight

• Monitor program financials including tooling costs, project budgets, and change management

• Support quotation reviews and commercial discussions in collaboration with Sales and BD teams

• Ensure scope changes are documented, approved, and commercially aligned

• Track program KPIs including schedule adherence, quality performance, and cost targets

• Provide regular program status reports to management

8. Risk Management & Continuous Improvement

• Identify program risks early and develop mitigation and contingency plans

• Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for program issues

• Capture lessons learned and best practices for future programs

• Support process improvement initiatives within Program Management and Operations

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• On-time, on-quality, on-cost delivery of customer programs

• Customer satisfaction and program execution performance

• Effectiveness of team leadership and program engineer development

• Program risk management and issue resolution effectiveness

• Cross-functional and cross-site coordination effectiveness

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or equivalent); postgraduate or project management certification is advantageous

• 8–12 years of program or project management experience in precision engineering, plastics injection molding, or contract manufacturing environments

• Proven track record of owning and delivering multiple complex programs end-to-end, from project award through NPI to mass production

• Demonstrated leadership experience in managing and developing Program Engineers or project teams

• Strong technical expertise in NPI, including tooling development, DFM, validation, and production ramp-up, with solid understanding of plastics and manufacturability

• Ability to manage global customers and drive cross-functional, multi-site program execution, with working knowledge of commercial aspects, change management (ECR/ECO), and quality systems
