Scientist, Measurement Science & Engineering, NMC

The A*STAR’s National Metrology Centre (NMC) is the national measurement institute of Singapore, dedicated to advancing measurement science for an innovative and competitive economy. NMC is looking for an enthusiastic,self-motivated, and innovative staff with good interpersonal skills to join ourmulti-disciplinary team.

Successful candidate will be working with a team of metrologists and scientists to support a competent and internationally recognized national measurement infrastructurefor Singapore.

Responsibilities:

1. Leading research and development of Kibble Balance in small mass range, which could serve as the next generation primary mass standard in A*STAR NMC forSingapore. Translation of it to industry-grade applications and other industryuse of Kibble Balance principle. 
2. Establishment of international equivalence of the above measurement capabilities throughparticipation in international measurement comparisons.
3. Dissemination of the national mass and force standards and measurement technologies to the industry through the development and delivery of corresponding measurement solutions based on the needs of the industry.
4. Raising measurement capabilities of industry by providing consultancies and trainingsin mass and force measurements.
5. Supervision of students and trainees under attachment programmes.
6. Ensuring lab operation meets NMC’s requirement in Health Safety andEnvironment.

JobRequirements:

Qualification & Field of Study: Science or engineering with strong track record in Kibble Balance research and development

Min.Years of Experience: 3 years of relevant experience in Kibble Balance researchand development is required.

Other Requirements: 

• Strong knowledge of instrumentation and statistical analysis.
• Capability to work autonomously yet collaboratively with teams.
• A proactive team contributor who is self-driven, eager to learn,and adopts a positive approach to challenges.
• Automation and digitalisation skills, including hardware and software integration.
• Experience in technology translation for industry adoption willbe an advantage.
