Job Summary

You will ensure compliance with regulations and company policies for transporting dangerous, special, and non-standard cargo. You will approve shipments, coordinate operations, manage emergencies, and maintain regulatory platforms to support safe maritime logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with international, national, port authority regulations, and company policies for transporting dangerous goods, special cargo, and non-standard cargo
  • Review and approve acceptance of dangerous goods shipments for assigned and joint service routes
  • Evaluate and approve special cargo shipments such as breakbulk cargo, steel coils, flexitanks, hides/skins, and special containers, including stowage plans and safety guidance on cargo securing
  • Coordinate with internal departments to implement cargo acceptance procedures and oversee operational management of special cargo transportation
  • Monitor transportation activities and support freight collection processes for special cargo
  • Provide timely feedback to stakeholders on restrictive clauses or addendums in cooperation agreements or charter party contracts that may affect operational requirements
  • Support relevant departments in managing and resolving emergencies involving dangerous goods, special cargo, or non-standard cargo during transit
  • Maintain and manage the global Ocean Operations Dangerous Goods and Special Cargo Management platform, ensuring updates align with the latest IMDG Code
  • Collect, consolidate, and disseminate regulatory, advisory, and restriction information from international organizations, government authorities, and port authorities related to dangerous and special cargo transportation
  • Collaborate with internal teams to organize and deliver training programs on handling dangerous goods and special cargo
  • Ensure proper documentation, filing, and record-keeping in compliance with company and regulatory standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Required competencies and certifications

  • Relevant qualifications in dangerous goods transportation management
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in dangerous goods transportation or related shipping operations
  • Strong operational experience in the shipping or maritime industry
  • Professional knowledge and/or certifications in dangerous goods, special cargo, or non-standard cargo transportation management
