Laboratory Manager |Healthcare
Job Description
Summary: Oversee the overall operation and administration of the laboratory. Reports to Medical Director (CGO) for lab related matters. Reports to Chief Operating Officer (COO) for administrative and non-clinical matters.
Basic Salary | $6,500 to $9,500, depending on experience.
Work Location | Yishun, A Posh Bizhub.
Work Details | Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm.
Job Scopes:
Supervise and manage laboratory personnel, including hiring, training, evaluating performance, and ensuring staff adherence to protocols.
Develop and implement quality control programs to ensure the accuracy, precision, and reliability of laboratory results.
Ensure the laboratory operates in a safe environment, following safety protocols for handling hazardous materials and chemicals.
Design and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for lab processes and testing methods.
Streamline laboratory workflows to increase efficiency and reduce bottlenecks or delays in testing and reporting.
Ensure all laboratory equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and functioning.
Manage the laboratory’s resources, including reagents, equipment, and consumables, to ensure timely testing and operations.
Oversee cost management to prevent overspending and ensure the lab remains financially viable.
Stay current with advances in laboratory technology and incorporate new methods to improve lab capabilities and services.
Evaluate and validate new test methods and equipment to ensure their effectiveness and accuracy.
Ensure accurate and timely processing and reporting of laboratory results to healthcare providers or clients.
Communicate effectively with external parties such as regulatory bodies and suppliers.
Ensure the lab achieves and maintains accreditations (e.g., HSCA FACT, AABB, ISO etc) and prepares for audits or inspections.
Implement corrective actions following internal or external audits to ensure continuous compliance and improvement.
Authority to generate and/or review technical and laboratory policies, SOPs, processes, and procedures.
Escalate non-compliance or risk issues to senior management.
Accountable for overall laboratory performance, compliance, and the generation and/or review of policies and procedures.
Accountable for accuracy and timeliness of lab test results
Accountable for maintaining accreditation and passing audits.
Accountable for lab staff competency and adherence to safety protocols.
Job Requirements:
A doctoral degree in medicine or healthcare or related discipline.
In-depth knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., AABB, FACT, HSCA)
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the activities carried out in the experience in immunogenetics of transplantation, basic or clinical hematology, transfusion medicine, blood or tissue banking, or cryobiology.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in healthcare laboratory operations management role.
