Settlement Officer

Key Responsibilities:

• Process loan drawdowns, repayments, interest payments, and rollovers in accordance with loan agreements.
• Verify loan terms, funding instructions, and settlement details prior to execution.
• Coordinate with borrowers, agents, counterparties, and custodians to facilitate timely settlements.
• Monitor cash funding requirements and ensure sufficient liquidity for loan disbursements.
• Investigate and resolve settlement discrepancies, payment delays, and reconciliation breaks.
• Maintain accurate transaction records and ensure completeness of supporting documentation.
• Perform daily reconciliations of loan positions, cash movements, and interest accruals.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, credit terms, and regulatory requirements.
• Support audit requests and regulatory reporting related to loan operations.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce operational risk.
• Ad hoc tasks as assigned by internal stakeholders

Requirements:

• Diploma/Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in loan operations, settlements, or banking back-office functions.
• Strong understanding of loan products (bilateral loans, syndicated loans, trade finance knowledge is an advantage).
• Familiarity with SWIFT messaging (ISO 20022) and banking settlement systems.
• Experience with reconciliation tools and operational banking platforms is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in transaction processing.
• Good understanding of loan documentation and payment mechanics.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills to handle discrepancies efficiently.
• Effective communication skills for coordination with internal and external parties.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and banking systems.
