Aircon Technician

Core Responsibilities

• Perform routine servicing of residential and commercial air-conditioning units
• Clean air filters, evaporator coils, condenser coils, and drainage systems
• Conduct chemical washes and chemical overhauls when required
• Troubleshoot cooling issues, water leakage, unusual noises, and system faults
• Check refrigerant pressures and identify gas leaks
• Repair or replace faulty components
• Perform installation and commissioning of new air-conditioning units
• Maintain service records and inspection reports
• Ensure compliance with workplace safety procedures
• Educate customers on proper air-conditioner maintenance

Essential Knowledge

• Refrigeration cycle fundamentals
• Heat transfer principles
• Air-conditioning system components: Compressor Condenser Evaporator Expansion valve Thermostat
• Electrical troubleshooting
• Refrigerant handling

Practical Skills

• Pressure testing
• Vacuuming systems
• Gas charging
• Leak detection
• Chemical cleaning
• Electrical testing with multimeters
• Installation and dismantling of units

Qualifications:

• Nitec / Higher Nitec in: Facility Technology Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
• WSQ Workplace Safety courses
• Refrigerant handling certification
• Working-at-heights certification
• Class 3 driving licence
