Accounting Manager

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee and manage a portfolio of clients across various industries. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of bookkeeping, accounting, financial reporting, payroll, and compliance services while leading a team of accounting professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise the accounting team to ensure quality service delivery to clients.
  • Oversee the full set of accounts for a portfolio of clients from various industries.
  • Review bookkeeping records, accounting entries, and financial statements prepared by team members.
  • Ensure timely preparation of management accounts, financial reports, and supporting schedules.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable accounting standards and statutory requirements.
  • Liaise with clients, auditors, bankers, and regulatory authorities on accounting-related matters.
  • Review payroll reports and statutory payroll-related submissions where applicable.
  • Assist clients with accounting system implementation, process improvements, and internal controls.
  • Manage client onboarding and ensure smooth transition of accounting functions.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and training to junior team members.
  • Monitor work progress, resource allocation, and team performance to meet deadlines and client expectations.
  • Handle complex accounting matters and provide practical solutions to clients.
  • Support client relationship management and maintain a high standard of professional service.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of accounting records and supporting documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CA, ICAEW, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience in an accounting firm, corporate services firm, outsourcing firm, or professional services environment is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, full-set accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with payroll processing and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, AutoCount, SQL Accounting, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and client management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple client portfolios and work under tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
