Job Description
This project aims to model the structural response of reinforced concrete structures under different impact loading conditions. The eventual structural response ranges from having localized damaged components, to a partial or total collapse of the building.
The candidate is expected to:
• Perform a thorough literature review of available data and available modelling methods that can reproduce a realistic collapse scenario
• Develop a systematic modelling approach for the selected modelling platform
• Validate the modelling approach
• Perform numerical parametric studies and develop design guidelines for structural robustness
Job Requirements
• Possess a PhD degree in a relevant field, with demonstrated experience in the following:
• Structural robustness and progressive collapse of RC structures.
• Modelling of structural response under column loss scenarios.
• Large deformation kinematics of rigid bodies.
• Strong written and spoken communications.
• Open to fixed-term contract.
