We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.

The Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials at the National University of Singapore is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Research Fellow to support experimental research in superconducting nanodevices, quantum detection, and cryogenic RF systems. This is a hands-on role focused on advanced instrumentation, measurements at cryogenic temperatures, and nanofabrication. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of physicists and engineers on cutting-edge experimental platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement RF/microwave setups for cryogenic and quantum device measurements
  • Operate and maintain dilution refrigerator systems, including wiring and thermal anchoring
  • Perform measurements involving superconducting single-photon detectors and related readout schemes
  • Lead nanofabrication of superconducting nanowire devices using e-beam lithography, thin-film deposition (e.g., sputtering), and etching
  • Analyze experimental data, maintain lab notebooks, and contribute to improving experimental workflows
  • Collaborate with internal and external research teams on funded projects

Job Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Quantum Technology or a closely related field
  • Strong technical expertise in at least two or more of the following areas:RF/microwave circuit design and measurementDilution refrigerator operation and cryogenic system integrationSuperconducting photon detection and quantum transport measurementsNanofabrication in a cleanroom setting (e.g., superconducting nanowires, sub-100 nm structures)Demonstrated hands-on lab experience and technical problem-solving skillsStrong communication and organizational abilities

Note: We value technical skills and lab experience over publication record. If you’re someone who can build, measure, troubleshoot, and deliver in the lab, we want to hear from you. To apply, we require your CV, short cover letter describing your relevant experience and interests, and contact information for at least one referee (optional at the first stage). Reviews of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
