Crew Payroll Officer
Job Description
We are looking for a Crew Payroll Officer manages wage processing for maritime crew. He/She calculates base wages, overtime, allowances, and allotments. He/She ensures compliance with maritime regulations (MLC 2006) and Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs). This role is part of the accounts department in Singapore.
Core Responsibilities
Payroll Processing : Accurately prepare and disburse monthly crew salaries, balance of wages, allotments, and sick wages.
Variable Claims & Deductions : Verify timesheets, overtime claims, incidental expenses, and bond summaries submitted from vessels.
Compliance & Contract Adherence : Ensure all payments strictly adhere to the terms in the Seafarers' Employment Agreement (SEA), company terms, and international labour standards.
Accounts & Cost Allocation : Assist with general ledger entries, process manning/travel agency invoices, and support month-end closing and audits.
Crew Communication : Handle pay-related queries from seafarers, ship Masters, and manning agencies.
Key Skills & Requirements
System Proficiency : Strong experience with industry-specific maritime software (e.g. PAL) and MS Excel.
Maritime Knowledge : Good knowledge with understanding of crew rotation and allowances in accordance to Company policies.
Financial Acumen : Attention to detail for cost-coding, budget monitoring, and reconciling complicated currency/allotment transactions.
Typical Work Environment
The role is based ashore at ship management Company in Singapore. The role operates on standard weekday hours with occasional requirements during weekend, especially for offsigners.
Qualifications :
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role in a reputed Ship Management or Ship Owning company of Tanker fleet in Singapore.
- Having experience of dealing with Crew Payroll of Indian, Philippine, Eastern European and other Asian Nationals.
- LCCI certificates.
