This role is a senior, growth-focused CCO mandate with full responsibility for Avation’s global commercial, marketing and leasing activities, including leadership of the leasing team, key account management and optimisation of fleet revenue.
The Chief Commercial Officer will be responsible for executing Avation’s global commercial objectives, managing revenue growth and maximising fleet utilisation and value across the company’s Aircraft portfolio.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, manage and develop a small global team of marketing, commercial and leasing professionals, setting clear objectives, KPIs and accountability.
- Maintain and deepen relationships with key airline customers worldwide, including regular senior-level visits to priority accounts to identify and execute growth opportunities (new placements, follow‑on leases, fleet solutions).
- Own the commercial pipeline for new and existing aircraft, including origination, structuring, pricing and negotiation of lease and trading transactions, and provide clear monthly reporting to management on activities and deal status.
- Maintain a strong, data‑driven awareness of market lease rate factors, aircraft values and trading conditions across Avation’s key asset types (narrowbody, turboprop and widebody), and translate these insights into portfolio and pricing strategy.
- Oversee management of the ATR orderbook and delivery stream, optimising customer allocation, delivery timing and economics.
- Ensure off‑lease and transition aircraft are remarketed and placed efficiently, managing transitions in a commercially sensible manner in close collaboration with technical and legal teams.
- Work closely with technical, finance, legal and risk colleagues to structure and execute transactions that meet Avation’s return parameters.
- Represent Avation at industry events, conferences and in direct OEM, airline interactions, enhancing the company’s profile and origination network.
- Contribute to broader corporate strategy, including fleet composition, orderbook strategy and entry into new markets or asset types, in alignment with Avation’s growth objectives.
Candidate profile
- 10+ years’ experience in senior commercial, marketing, leasing or sales roles within an aircraft leasing company, airline and/or OEM (Airbus or Boeing), with direct responsibility for closing aircraft lease or sale transactions.
- Proven track record of leading and motivating commercial/leasing teams and delivering sustained revenue growth and portfolio utilisation in the aviation leasing sector.
- Strong financial acumen, including understanding of lease economics, aircraft valuation drivers and basic transaction structuring concepts, with the ability to engage effectively with finance and investment teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with credibility at C‑suite level with airlines and counterparties and the ability to lead a team.
- Energetic, hands‑on and results‑oriented leadership style, comfortable with international business travel and operating in a dynamic, growth‑focused environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering or a related discipline; postgraduate or professional qualifications advantageous but not essential.
