Senior UX Strategist & Project Lead

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior UX Strategist & Project Lead to take ownership of both UX strategy and project delivery on our most complex web engagements. This is a senior, hands-on hybrid role for someone who can lead the thinking and run the project. You will set the UX direction, manage the moving parts, and be the senior point of contact for our enterprise clients from kickoff through launch.

You will work directly with the Founder, partner with our UX Strategist, designers, developers, and clients, and be the person who keeps complex web projects on strategy, on time, and on budget.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership and Coordination

·      Own end to end delivery on enterprise and multi stakeholder web projects, including scope, timeline, budget, and quality outcomes.

·      Run projects day to day. Manage timelines, deliverables, dependencies, and resourcing across designers, developers, and freelance partners.

·      Be the primary senior client contact. Lead status meetings, scope conversations, change requests, and strategic check ins with confidence.

·      Develop project scopes, define milestones, and build delivery plans that hold up under pressure.

·      Track project health, spot risks early, navigate scope creep, and protect both client outcomes and team capacity.

·      Run internal critiques, design reviews, and client presentations. Hold the room with senior stakeholders.

·      Coordinate handovers between strategy, design, development, and launch, making sure nothing slips between the gaps.

UX Strategy

·      Lead UX strategy on enterprise and complex web projects. Own the research, frameworks, and decisions that shape the user experience.

·      Conduct senior level discovery sessions and stakeholder workshops. Translate ambiguous client needs into clear, defensible UX strategy.

·      Develop user journeys, service blueprints, information architecture, personas, and wireframes that stand up to senior client scrutiny.

·      Lead UX audits and strategic reviews for enterprise client websites. Produce findings and roadmaps that drive measurable improvements.

·      Set and uphold UX quality standards across all live projects. Review work, give direction, and unblock the team.

·      Embed user first thinking and accessibility best practice into every engagement.

Team and Capability Building

·      Partner with the Founder on UX and delivery direction across the studio.

·      Coach and support junior team members. Raise the bar for UX rigour, project discipline, and craft.

·      Contribute to the agency's project playbooks, UX templates, and process improvements.

What We're Looking For

Experience: Minimum 5 years' hands on experience leading digital project delivery and UX strategy, with at least 2 years on enterprise scale or complex web projects (multi stakeholder corporate sites, eCommerce platforms, web applications, or digital transformations).

Project leadership: Demonstrable experience owning end to end delivery e. Comfortable managing timelines, budgets, stakeholders, scope, and resourcing without needing oversight.

Strategic depth: Proven ability to lead UX strategy independently from research through to launch, not just execute on someone else's brief.

Web fluency: Strong working knowledge of website architectures, UI and UX best practice for web, accessibility (WCAG), and CMS platforms (preferably WordPress, Elementor, Shopify).

UX craft: Senior proficiency in UX research, wireframing, user journey mapping, information architecture, and design tooling (Figma, Miro, or similar).

Client presence: Confident, articulate, and credible in front of senior client stakeholders. Holds the room without needing the Founder to step in.

Judgement: Resourceful, solutions driven, and commercially aware. Knows when to push, when to compromise, and when to escalate.

Standards: Meticulous on deliverables, deadlines, and quality.

Bonus Points If You Have

·      Experience in a digital or UX agency environment, not in house only.

·      Background working on regulated industries (healthcare, finance, government) or cybersecurity aware engagements.

·      Familiarity with Agile or hybrid project management approaches.

·      Working knowledge of SEO, CRO, or analytics tools (GA4, Hotjar, and similar).

·      Experience mentoring junior UX designers or project coordinators.
