The Radiographer is responsible for delivering diagnostic imaging services while maintaining high standards of patient care, safety, quality, and operational efficiency. This role involves performing imaging procedures, ensuring compliance with clinical protocols, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support accurate diagnosis and positive patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a range of diagnostic imaging procedures in accordance with established clinical protocols, departmental guidelines, and standard operating procedures.
- Verify patient identity, examination requests, and obtain the necessary consents prior to conducting procedures.
- Ensure all imaging examinations are completed accurately and safely while adhering to radiation safety standards.
- Review image quality, confirm correct labelling, and ensure all requested examinations are completed before submission for reporting.
- Accurately enter and maintain examination records within the relevant systems.
- Explain procedures to patients, including preparation requirements and expected duration, to promote a positive patient experience.
- Provide patient-centred care and ensure patients' physical comfort, safety, and well-being throughout the examination process.
- Implement appropriate measures to minimise unnecessary radiation exposure for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Participate in on-call and after-hours duties as required and respond within established service standards.
- Perform routine quality assurance checks and basic equipment maintenance in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues, clinicians, and other departments to support seamless patient care delivery.
- Undertake additional duties and projects as assigned.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science (Radiography), Diploma in Radiography, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
- Professional registration or membership with relevant professional bodies where applicable.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a diagnostic imaging environment.
- Ability to participate in on-call and after-hours duties.
- Experience in one or more imaging modalities, including CT, MRI, Ultrasound, or Mammography, would be advantageous.
- Prior experience overseeing or coordinating imaging modality operations will be considered for senior-level opportunities.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient care skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with PACS and radiology information systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Work Schedule: 5.5-day work week.
