Job Overview
The Accounts Assistant is responsible for supporting the accounting team with daily financial operations. This role ensures accurate record-keeping, timely processing of transactions, and compliance with financial procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Process invoices, payments, and expense claims
- Maintain and update financial records and ledgers
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Reconcile bank statements and company accounts
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes
- Handle petty cash and monitor expenses
- Assist in preparing financial reports and statements
- Communicate with suppliers, clients, and internal departments
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero) and Microsoft Excel
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Education & Experience
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Previous experience in a finance or accounting role (preferred but not always required)
Typical Work Environment
- Office-based or hybrid work setting
- Standard working hours, with occasional extra time during financial closing periods
