About Metta Preschool @ Punggol

Metta Preschool (Punggol) is a specialized early intervention center dedicated to children aged 2 to 6 with mild to moderate Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Global Developmental Delay (GDD), and intellectual disabilities. The Role: What You’ll Do

As a Teacher Aide, you are an essential partner to our Classroom Teachers. You will help manage classroom dynamics, prepare specialized learning resources, and provide 1-on-1 or small group support to ensure every child can participate meaningfully in our intervention programs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Classroom & Learning Support

  • Assist teachers in executing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and daily classroom activities.

  • Provide 1-on-1 guidance to students during lessons to help them stay focused and engaged.

  • Support the management of student behaviors using positive reinforcement and strategies directed by the teacher.

  • Assist with routine care, including arrival/dismissal roll calls, meal times, and toileting (if required).

2. Resource Preparation & Environment Management

  • Prepare and organize teaching aids, visual schedules, and sensory-friendly learning materials.

  • Ensure the classroom remains a safe, clean, and conducive "Ready-to-Learn" environment.

  • Set up specialized work areas, schedule boards, and activity stations before each session.

3. Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team (Teachers, Therapists) to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

  • Assist in documenting simple observations of student progress or behavioral incidents as requested by the teacher.

  • Participate in center-wide events, outings, and basic housekeeping duties to maintain high operational standards.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Minimum GCE 'N' Levels or equivalent. A NITEC or Higher NITEC in Early Childhood or Social Services is a significant advantage.

  • Experience: Prior experience working with young children or in a special needs (SPED) environment is preferred, but passionate entry-level candidates are welcome to apply.
