Why this role?
As Area Major Project Business Development Director, you will lead the strategic development and growth of KONE's Modernization business within Major Projects (MP) across Asia Pacific, Middle East, Turkey, and Africa (APM). This is a senior, impactful role focused on driving customer-centric growth, strengthening competitive positioning, and improving profitability in complex, high-value modernization projects. You will work closely with Area leadership, frontline and country teams to steer the business, develop sales opportunities, and engage with customers to win iconic modernization projects.
What will you be doing?
Customers
Drive early customer engagement through consultative and value-based selling
Build customer relationships with key stakeholders of flagship modernization opportunities
Promote a strong customer-centric and outside-in mindset across the organization
Build deep understanding of customer and market needs
Business Development
Lead MP modernization sales development, go-to-market strategies and offering needs for Major Projects in collaboration with other stakeholders
Collaborate with Area, Region, and Global teams to share best practices and scale successful approaches
Business Performance
Drive the competitiveness, growth, and profitability of the Major Project Modernization business
Analyze tendering, contracting, and project outcomes to identify trends and improvement actions
Leadership
Contribute at an executive level to APM modernization and major project strategic planning
Influence and align multiple stakeholders without direct authority
Mentor and develop regional modernization and major project talent
Are you the one?
Demonstrated success in strategic deal shaping in commercial leadership roles or senior business development roles close to customers
Experience from modernization or construction is preferred
Solid understanding of modernization market dynamics, customer decision-making, and business drivers
Ability to work effectively across cultures and regions
Strategic mindset with hands-on execution capability
Strong self-drive and result-orientation
