Senior Software Engineer, Hybrid Connectivity

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of complex features and significant components within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) hybrid connectivity products. Drive projects from concept to launch with minimal oversight, balancing short-term needs with long-term architectural health.
  • Architect, design, and implement highly scalable, reliable, and secure distributed systems for hybrid cloud networking. Make sound technical judgments with ambiguity and proactively identify opportunities for system improvements.
  • Collaborate with and influence technical direction across multiple engineering teams, including product management, site reliability engineering, and other networking teams within GCP
  • Act as a technical mentor for engineers (L3/L4), providing guidance on design, implementation, and best practices.
  • Ensure the production health, monitoring, and on-call support for hybrid connectivity services. Drive initiatives to improve system reliability, observability, and supportability, potentially leveraging AI/ML for enhanced operational insights.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience in software development.
  • Experience with coding in C++.
  • Experience architecting and developing large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in concurrency, multithreading and synchronization.
  • Good understanding of networking concepts, protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP), and network security
