App & Technology Partnerships @ Shopify

Join the App and Technology Partnerships team at Shopify and help shape the ecosystem that powers commerce for millions of merchants worldwide. You'll build and own relationships with leading technology companies — from the apps that run day-to-day merchant operations to the large ISVs that help enterprise brands choose Shopify.

Working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Legal, and Finance, you'll drive high-impact integrations and commercial partnerships that make Shopify more powerful for every merchant.

This role owns a focused portfolio of high-value strategic partners and runs the full partner lifecycle end to end — from shaping the relationship to aligning on product priorities, driving execution, negotiating commercial terms, and creating long-term joint value. You'll work across partners that matter to Shopify's highest product and merchant needs, translating partner requirements into clear internal signal and turning Shopify's product direction into partner-facing execution.

You'll be comfortable in the details — APIs, integration patterns, product requirements, and cross-functional workstreams — while also having the judgment to lead senior partner conversations. We're looking for someone with high aptitude across the whole lifecycle who thrives when the work spans strategy, commercials, product translation, and disciplined project execution all at once.

This role is for you if… you like to balance breadth and depth, making impact through strategic partners across multiple product priorities. You understand how platform ecosystems work, and are energized by the complexity of translating product needs, partner requirements, and commercial realities into shipped merchant impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit app and technology partners that expand what merchants can do on Shopify — extending the product, opening new markets, and reducing reasons to say no

  • Push partners to build at Shopify's speed: faster API adoption, higher integration quality, better merchant experiences

  • Get executive buy-in from partners — making Shopify a priority on their roadmap and in their go-to-market

  • Remove the technical and commercial barriers that slow partners down or limit what they can ship

  • Build joint GTM plans that grow partner revenue and bring more merchants onto Shopify simultaneously

  • Negotiate commercial agreements that incentivize the right behaviors and hold up as the ecosystem evolves

Qualifications

  • Built partnerships end-to-end — from making the internal case, to signing, to driving adoption — with measurable merchant or business impact

  • Can tell the difference between a great integration and a mediocre one, and knows how to close that gap with a partner

  • Negotiated commercial agreements that were fair to both sides and held up over time

  • Comfortable at the executive level with a partner and in the technical weeds with their engineers

  • Moves deals forward cross-functionally — product, engineering, legal, marketing — without it becoming committee work

Bonus points for:

  • Enterprise or large ISV experience, especially where co-sell or GTM motions were involved

  • App ecosystem or developer platform experience — managed partners at scale

  • Working knowledge of AI or agentic commerce and how it's reshaping merchant operations
