About You

You’re a hands-on engineering leader who blends technical depth with a genuine passion for growing people. You’ve spent years building and shipping SaaS products, and you know what it takes to deliver clean, reliable code at scale. You’re energized by mentoring engineers, helping them grow into the next version of themselves, and creating the conditions for your team to do their best work.

You thrive in cross-functional environments — partnering naturally with product, design, infrastructure, and customer-facing teams. You bring your authentic self to work, say what you think in real time, and trust the people closest to the work to make the call.

What Skills Do I Need?

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 1+ year managing or tech-leading a team of engineers
  • Hands-on experience building and shipping production SaaS products with modern web stacks (e.g., React, Node.js, MongoDB/Postgres)
  • A track record of delivering technical projects end-to-end — scoping, executing, and shipping clean, well-tested code in distributed systems
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, give meaningful feedback, and create growth opportunities
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with product, design, and customer-facing teams to ship customer-impacting features

Key Responsibilities

Lead and grow your team

  • Manage a team of software engineers — hiring, mentoring, running 1:1s, and creating clear paths for career growth
  • Set the bar for engineering quality, run a healthy on-call and incident response practice, and foster a culture of feedback and continuous improvement
  • Partner with engineering leadership peers to scale our team and uphold our engineering culture as we grow

Deliver Tulip’s product

  • Drive execution on a meaningful slice of Tulip’s product surface area, working with product and design to scope work and navigate tradeoffs
  • Stay technically engaged — review designs, unblock the team on hard problems, and contribute to architectural decisions
  • Help architect and ship product capabilities that integrate generative and agentic AI in our core platform

Collaborate across Tulip

  • Partner with infrastructure and platform teams on systems that scale across multicloud and multitenant environments
  • Work with QA and customer-facing teams to ensure what we ship meets the bar for reliability and customer value
  • Bring insights from customers and the field back into the roadmap, in true gemba fashion

Key Collaborators

  • Product & Design
  • Engineering leadership peers
  • QA
  • Customer-facing teams
