About the role

Please note, this team is hiring across all levels and candidates are individually assessed and appropriately leveled based upon their skills and experience.

Great agentic AI depends on the data behind it. As a Senior Staff Backend Engineer, you build the configuration service that drives every client and the telemetry pipeline that turns raw production signals into the performance, security, and quality insights that tell the team what to build next. Ingest, classify, aggregate, dashboard: you own that spine, and it runs against usage from Netskope’s large customer base.

What’s in it for you

  • You build the measurement engine. The team’s whole strategy, optimize where the data points, runs on the pipeline you own.
  • Green-field backend. This function is net-new. You’ll set the patterns, not inherit them.
  • Real scale to build against. Netskope’s customer footprint gives your pipelines production signals at a volume most teams never touch.

What you will be doing

  • Build the configuration backend service that manages and delivers config to clients.
  • Build the telemetry pipeline: ingest usage events, run a multi-category classifier, aggregate performance/security/quality patterns, and feed per-user and exec dashboards.
  • Design and ship reliable, observable, secure services and APIs in Golang and/or Python.
  • Partner with the ML team (which consumes the data) and the endpoint team (which emits it), and with partner orgs on the dashboard front-end.

Required skills and experience

  • 10+ years of overall industry experience, with 6+ years in backend/services and distributed systems in Golang and/or Python: services, APIs, and data pipelines/ETL you’ve built and operated in production.
  • Experience with telemetry, event, or data pipelines and the storage/query systems behind them.
  • Expertise with Kubernetes and cloud platforms (AWS) for deploying, scaling, and operating production services.
  • Understanding of REST/HTTPS/TLS and designing and shipping secure APIs.
  • Fluency with agentic coding systems and genuine curiosity about agent harnesses like Claude Code, Pi, and Codex, bonus if you’ve instrumented one.
  • Expertise with data structures and algorithms; strong communication skills.

Education

  • BS Computer Science or equivalent required; MS Computer Science or equivalent preferred.
