Key Duties and Responsibilities

As a Senior Manager/ Manager, Group Data Centre Engineering Support, you will be responsible for establishing, implementing, and continuously improving STT GDC’s global data centre operations framework, service management systems, and engineering standards to support the Group’s strategic objectives. The role provides operational leadership for new data centre start-ups, ensuring a smooth transition to in-country DC Operations teams while maintaining alignment with Group policies, standards, and best practices. You will also play a key role in driving engineering governance, operational excellence, risk management, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement programmes across the global portfolio.

  • Lead the operational readiness, transition, and onboarding of new data centres to in-country DC Operations teams.
  • Represent DC Operations throughout the project lifecycle, including design reviews, commissioning, Integrated Systems Testing (IST), site acceptance, and handover activities.
  • Provide operational input on design, maintenance, reliability, and constructability to ensure long-term operational efficiency and maintainability.
  • Support the development of new in-country operations teams through training, knowledge transfer, and operational readiness programmes.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance global engineering, maintenance, and operational standards across all regions.
  • Review and align regional engineering policies, procedures, and operational practices to establish consistent Group-wide operating baselines.
  • Drive global change management, problem management, incident review, and lessons-learned processes to improve operational reliability.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on engineering and operational matters, supporting critical incident recovery, root cause analysis, and service improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct energy and water efficiency assessments and recommend sustainability and optimisation initiatives across the portfolio.
  • Support the alignment and implementation of OT security requirements in collaboration with Service Assurance and cyber security teams.
  • Develop and maintain operational risk management, governance, and capacity planning frameworks.
  • Review and analyse operational Capex and Opex budgets across regions to drive standardisation, benchmarking, and cost optimisation.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on operational KPIs, benchmarking metrics, and continuous improvement programmes.
  • Drive technical certification programmes across the portfolio, including ISO 50001, ISO 14001, SS564, BCA-IMDA Green Mark for Data Centres, TIA-942, and Uptime standards.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with Group operational policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration and sharing of best practices, lessons learned, and operational knowledge across all regions.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Management.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related discipline.
  • Degree holders should possess a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the operations and maintenance of mission-critical facilities. Diploma holders should possess 10–15 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in data centre design, construction, and/or commissioning would be an added advantage.
  • Professional certifications such as Singapore Certified Energy Manager (SCEM), Green Mark Accredited Professional, LEED Green Associate, LEED AP, or equivalent are preferred.
  • Relevant data centre certifications such as CDFOS, CDFOM, CDCP, CDCS, CTDC, CTIA, DCP, DCS, DCT, ATS, ATD, ATP, AOS, AOP, ITIL 4, or equivalent certifications are advantageous.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Microsoft Power BI.
  • Good knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
