Network Engineer - IoT - MC
Job Description
Role Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Network Engineer (IoT) to serve as the primary technical authority across the full implementation lifecycle of telemetry systems. This role requires hands-on expertise in designing, building, and managing end-to-end IoT and telemetry infrastructures, including edge, network, and cloud integration layers.
Key Responsibilities • Act as the primary technical authority across the full implementation lifecycle of telemetry systems • Design and implement operational management architectures for sensor inventory tracking, automated calibration offsets, and device state monitoring • Lead end-to-end telemetry system builds across edge, network, and cloud layers • Develop bidirectional communication integrations with environmental telemetry platforms (e.g., Campbell Scientific, Vaisala, LSI LASTEM) • Implement edge-side data buffering strategies to ensure resilience during network disruptions such as cellular dropouts • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineers, platform teams, and field technicians
Required Skills & Qualifications • Strong experience in IoT network engineering and telemetry systems • Hands-on experience with bidirectional device communication and integration • Proficiency in low-level scripting and data manipulation (byte stream parsing, bitwise operations, endianness handling) • Experience with MQTT clients or equivalent open IoT protocols • Strong troubleshooting and system design capabilities
Preferred Qualifications • Experience with environmental telemetry platforms (e.g., Campbell Scientific, Vaisala, LSI LASTEM) • Familiarity with cellular network architectures and IoT communication challenges • Experience with edge computing and data buffering strategies
