Vessel IT Engineer (level 2 support)

• Permanent position, Salary up to $6,000

Key Responsibilities

• Provide remote IT support to vessels and crew, with occasional onboard support when required.

• Install, maintain, and optimize onboard IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, workstations, communication systems (satellite/radio), and related hardware.

• Support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of vessel IT infrastructure.

• Monitor system performance, ensuring high availability, reliability, and operational efficiency.

• Perform remote and onboard system upgrades, maintenance, and patching activities.

• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, network, and application issues in collaboration with vendors and internal stakeholders.

• Maintain IT security controls, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.

• Handle L1 service desk escalations and provide timely issue resolution.

• Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical incidents outside business hours.

• Travel onboard vessels for audits, maintenance, and project implementation when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

• 2–5 years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or technical support.

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Windows 10/11, Hyper-V, and Active Directory.

• Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure components such as network switches, firewalls, UPS, storage, backup, and replication solutions.

• Familiarity with cybersecurity solutions, endpoint protection, and IT security best practices.

• Knowledge of hardware troubleshooting, structured cabling, and Wi-Fi infrastructure.

• Exposure to maritime or ship automation systems is an advantage but not essential.

• Willingness to travel onboard vessels and participate in an on-call support rotation.
