Senior Mechanical Engineer (Design) Position Overview · Taking conceptual design, review, tendering, construction, and commissioning of Mechanical Engineering systems for large and complex projects. · Manage project deliverables including design quality, cost, schedule, sustainability targets, and technical compliance with client requirements. · Provide leadership and mentorship to the Mechanical Engineering team to ensure technical excellence and successful project delivery. Key Responsibilities · Responsible for the conceptual and detailed design of all mechanical systems and determine associated construction budget costs during programming and design phases. · Establish and define project sustainability targets and ensure compliance throughout the project lifecycle. · Review mechanical engineering designs prepared by team members to ensure technical compliance with contractual and client requirements. · Review all mechanical tender documentation and oversee all stages of the tendering process through contract award. · Implement and manage design checklists while tracking project design progress. · Arrange and participate in internal design reviews in collaboration with the Head of Department. · Represent the Mechanical Engineering team during client meetings and technical discussions. · Develop recovery plans relating to design, cost, and project schedules whenever required. · Support project activities including construction, commissioning, troubleshooting, surveys, fact-finding exercises, report writing, RFQ pricing, and final account evaluations. · Promote workplace safety, professional conduct, and effective team collaboration. Technical Scope of Work · Mechanical engineering design for large-scale and fast-track projects in data centre, pharmaceutical, semiconductor or clean rooms. · Construction budget estimation and cost management for mechanical systems. · Technical review and compliance assessment of engineering designs. · Tender preparation, evaluation, and contract award processes. · Construction management and mechanical systems commissioning activities. · Troubleshooting and technical problem-solving during project execution. · Project schedule management and design recovery planning. · Preparation of technical reports and engineering documentation. Qualifications · Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. · Diploma holders should possess an additional 2 to 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent professional certifications. · Minimum 10 - 15 years of experience. · Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing client relationships is highly desirable. Technical Competencies · Strong knowledge of current Mechanical Engineering practices, design standards, and industry trends. · Proven experience in mechanical design reviews, tender management, construction, and commissioning processes. · Strong technical problem-solving and engineering decision-making capabilities. · Ability to manage technical, commercial, cost, and schedule-related project requirements.
