Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Data Engineer / Data Migration Analyst to support enterprise data migration and reporting transformation initiatives, in a renowned bank. The successful candidate will analyze legacy data assets, develop and optimize data processing solutions, perform source-to-target mapping, and ensure the successful migration of reporting datasets to modern data platforms. Mandatory Skill-set
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline;
- Must have minimum 3 years' experience in Data Engineering, ETL Development, Data Warehousing, Reporting, Data Migration, or a related field;
- Strong SQL development and data manipulation skills;
- Proficiency in SAS and/or Python scripting;
- Hands-on experience with Hue, Hive, Impala, Oozie;
- Experience in data warehousing, ETL development, data engineering, or data migration projects;
- Experience working with large and complex datasets;
- Strong understanding of relational databases, SQL optimization, and data modelling concepts.
Desired Skill-set
- Experience working with Hadoop ecosystem technologies;
- Exposure to enterprise reporting transformation, data modernization, or migration programs;
- Familiarity with enterprise data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Analyze existing tables, reports, datasets, and data processing workflows sourced from legacy data marts and manual processes;
- Review and understand existing SQL scripts, transformation logic, business rules, and data dependencies;
- Identify source systems, data lineage, reporting requirements, and current-state data processes;
- Collaborate with business users to understand reporting methodologies and translate business requirements into technical solutions;
- Perform source-to-target mapping between legacy data marts, manual data sources, and new enterprise data marts;
- Document field mappings, transformation logic, calculations, and business rules;
- Develop, enhance, and maintain SQL scripts using Hive and Impala through the Hue environment;
- Build data extraction, transformation, validation, and reporting processes;
- Rebuild existing reporting datasets, tables, and data preparation workflows using new enterprise data marts;
- Perform reconciliation between legacy reporting outputs and outputs generated from the new data platform;
- Validate data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness;
- Involved in documentation and data governance
