Network and System Engineer

Job Summary Ensure maximum uptime, security, and performance of customers’ IT infrastructure by managing the full lifecycle of networking hardware and server systems, from design and deployment to monitoring and troubleshooting. Responsibilities
- Architect and configure Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and Wireless LAN (WLAN) solutions to meet customer requirements.
- Install, maintain, and manage networking hardware including routers, Layer 2/Layer 3 switches, Fortinet firewalls, and load balancers.
- Manage VPN tunnels (Site-to-Site and Client-to-Site), VLAN segmentation, and routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP to ensure secure and reliable connectivity.
- Coordinate with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to manage internet circuits and resolve external connectivity issues promptly.
- Administer Windows Server (2019/2022) and Linux (RHEL) environments to maintain server health and availability.
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPO), DNS, and DHCP services to support directory and network infrastructure.
- Maintain virtualized environments using VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V, including resource allocation and VM snapshot management.
- Implement security best practices to harden servers and network devices against cyber threats.
- Execute regular OS and firmware patch management to mitigate vulnerabilities.
- Manage enterprise Antivirus/Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions and email security gateways to protect endpoints.
- Oversee daily backup processes to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Use monitoring tools such as PRTG and SolarWinds to proactively track network traffic and system health.
- Serve as escalation point for Level 2 and Level 3 troubleshooting of complex technical issues beyond general IT support capabilities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date network diagrams, asset inventories, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) documentation.
- Communicate technical issues clearly to customers and document incident reports and technical changes effectively.
Required competencies and certifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Information Technology or a related field.
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP (Cisco), MCSA/MCSE (Microsoft), or VCP (VMware).
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, and the OSI model.
- Experience with Storage Area Networks (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS).
- Familiarity with automation and scripting tools such as PowerShell, Python, or Ansible.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience.
- Analytical mindset and ability to work effectively under pressure during outages.
- Clear communication skills for articulating problems and documenting technical information.
