Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Database Engineer to design, implement, administer, optimize, and support enterprise database platforms across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments. The successful candidate will ensure the availability, scalability, security, and performance of mission-critical databases supporting enterprise applications and business operations. The role will work closely with Infrastructure Engineers, Cloud Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Application Developers, Enterprise Architects, Cybersecurity teams, and Business stakeholders to deliver highly available, resilient, and secure database solutions. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, administer, and maintain enterprise database platforms supporting business-critical applications. Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain relational and NoSQL database systems. Manage database performance tuning, optimization, indexing strategies, and query performance improvements. Monitor database health, availability, capacity, and performance while proactively resolving issues. Design and implement database backup, recovery, disaster recovery, replication, and high-availability solutions. Support cloud database platforms across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Administer cloud-native database services including Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, Azure SQL Database, Azure Database Services, Google Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, and Cloud Spanner. Automate database provisioning, configuration, and infrastructure deployment using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate database deployments into CI/CD pipelines. Perform database migration activities from on-premises to cloud platforms with minimal downtime. Implement database security controls including encryption, role-based access control, auditing, and compliance requirements. Troubleshoot complex database incidents and perform root cause analysis for production issues. Develop database standards, operational procedures, technical documentation, and disaster recovery plans. Support Incident, Problem, Change, Release, and Capacity Management processes aligned with ITIL best practices. Collaborate with developers to optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, functions, and database objects. Ensure compliance with enterprise security policies, governance standards, audit requirements, and regulatory guidelines. Required Skills & Experience Minimum 6 years of experience in Database Administration, Database Engineering, or Database Infrastructure. Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or IBM Db2. Experience supporting enterprise database environments with high availability and disaster recovery. Hands-on experience with cloud database platforms including AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. Experience managing cloud-native database services such as Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, Azure SQL Database, or Google Cloud SQL. Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform for database infrastructure provisioning. Strong knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning. Experience with database replication, clustering, Always On Availability Groups, Oracle RAC, Data Guard, or equivalent technologies. Experience implementing backup and recovery strategies using RMAN, native backup utilities, or third-party enterprise backup solutions. Familiarity with DevOps methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and database deployment automation. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Experience supporting mission-critical enterprise production environments.
