Overview
As an Associate Software Engineer at Stake, you plan, design and deliver scalable applications enabling the company to execute on our product roadmap reliably and consistently. Stake’s Software Engineers of all levels work collaboratively and challenge each other to build a best in market, forward looking product.
Primary responsibilities
Vision & Strategy
- Assist the engineering team in executing squad strategies and roadmaps that align with business objectives and customer needs;
Best Practices
- Support application development that meet Stake’s business goals through writing high quality, testable code while adhering to best practices;
- Review software designs and architectures;
- Stay across application wireframes, use cases, user journeys and designs;
- Learn and follow application development best practices, including documentation;
- Perform code reviews to learn from fellow engineers, report bugs to the team and ensure the code is readable and well-organised;
Key Deliverables
- Where applicable, contribute to the delivery process including participating in design reviews, refinement and planning sessions, estimation of development effort, and retrospectives;
- Contribute to the delivery of products, features, and user experience enhancements, collaborating with more experienced software engineers for guidance as needed;
- Contribute to the creation of automated tests, ensuring they meet project requirements and align with established testing frameworks;
Project management
- Provide timely updates to team members and stakeholders through frequent verbal and written updates, e.g. daily stand-ups, documentation, etc;
Who can be an Associate Software Engineer at Stake?
Generally, people in this role have one year of experience in a junior software engineering role prior to joining Stake. But we also are interested in exceptional engineers straight out of university too. At Stake, this is also a role available to outstanding performers in other teams who have demonstrated consistent excellent performance, a strong understanding of Stake’s products, customers and business objectives and who are hungry to kick start a career in software engineering.
