Key Responsibilities ● Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Python. ● Own backend feature development end-to-end, from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support. ● Build and maintain integrations with internal platforms, external systems, and third-party services. ● Develop and enhance AI-powered backend capabilities, including document ingestion, retrieval, and knowledge processing services. ● Design and maintain data processing pipelines to support reliable and efficient information retrieval. ● Work with relational and non-relational databases to support performant, scalable, and resilient backend systems. ● Debug and resolve production issues, contributing to system reliability, observability, and operational excellence. ● Collaborate closely with product managers, software engineers and partner teams to deliver high-quality backend solutions. ● Participate in code reviews and uphold engineering best practices across testing, CI/CD, security, and maintainability. ● Contribute to the continuous improvement of the platform's architecture, performance, and developer experience. Requirements ● 4-6 years of backend software engineering experience in a production environment ● Proficiency in backend development with Python, including web frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask ● Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Azure ● Experience with RESTful API design, third-party API integration, and OAuth 2.0 / token-based authentication flows ● Experience with relational and non-relational databases (e.g. Redis, MongoDB, PostgreSQL) ● Familiarity with operational support, and production troubleshooting ● Experience with CI/CD pipeline and version control workflows (Gitlab or GitHub, or equivalent) ● Effective communication skills and comfortable working across product, engineering and UX functions Nice to Have ● Proficiency with Javascript/Typescript and Node.js ● Experience with LLMs, RAG architectures, vector databases (e.g. Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector), or prompt engineering ● Experience with Microsoft Graph API, SharePoint Online APIs, or Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) integration ● Familiarity with document processing pipelines — text extraction, chunking strategies, embedding generation, and metadata management ● Experience with streaming APIs (e.g. Server-Sent Events) and async programming patterns ● Familiarity with mobile application development or mobile platform integrations ● Familiarity with government security standards, GCC (Government on Commercial Cloud), or regulated environments ● Experience working with external vendor teams on API contract design and integration testing ● Familiarity with data processing pipelines, ETL workflows, or batch processing systems ● Experience implementing security or compliance-related engineering requirements (e.g. data classification, access control, audit logging) ● Experience supporting operationally critical systems or internal platforms ● Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform)
