UX Designer for Public Service Division (PSD)

[12 months contract, renewable]

As part of the team, you will work alongside Product Managers, Designers, Engineers and Data to turn complex career information into experiences that are useful, understandable and actionable.

You Are Able To ● Understand users’ goals, behaviours and information needs. ● Turn defined product problems into clear, thoughtful user experiences. ● Simplify complex information without losing important context. ● Make ideas tangible through journeys, fl ows, wireframes and prototypes. ● Apply strong interaction and visual design fundamentals. ● Test ideas with users, learn from feedback and iterate. ● Understand how your work fi ts into the wider user journey. ● Work closely with Product Managers, Designers and Engineers from design through delivery. ● Take ownership of your work while seeking feedback and guidance when needed.

Discover & Understand ● Understand users, their needs, behaviours and pain points. ● Participate in and conduct user research with support where needed. ● Synthesise research and feedback into insights that inform your designs. ● Question assumptions and clarify the user problem behind requirements. Design & Validate ● Design user journeys, fl ows, interactions and interfaces. ● Explore diff erent approaches and prototype ideas. ● Simplify complex career information and choices. ● Test designs with users and iterate based on evidence. ● Apply accessibility and inclusive-design principles. Collaborate & Deliver ● Work closely with Product Managers, Designers and Engineers. ● Communicate your designs and rationale clearly. ● Seek and respond constructively to feedback. ● Stay involved during implementation to ensure design quality. ● Learn from shipped experiences and continuously improve your work.

What We’re Looking For Around 4–5 years of relevant professional experience in Product Design, UX Design, Interaction Design, or a related discipline. You should have: ● Strong UX, interaction and visual design fundamentals. ● Familiarity with user research and usability testing. ● Ability to simplify complex information and workfl ows. ● Experience prototyping, testing and iterating with users. ● Understanding of accessibility and inclusive design. ● Ability to work eff ectively with Product Managers and Engineers. ● A portfolio demonstrating your design process, craft and contribution to digital product experiences.

Nice to Have Experience with information-heavy products, recommendation or discovery experiences, data visualisation, design systems, product analytics, AI-enabled products, or government and other complex domains. You do not need to be an expert in careers or employment. You need to be curious, ask good questions and be able to learn quickly.
