Data Centre Operations Engineer (Public Sector)

• 2-year contract, renewable

• 8AM - 8PM shift, Monday - Friday (9 hour per shift)

• North-eastern Singapore

• Government project

Key Responsibilities Infrastructure and Facilities Management

• Monitor and maintain critical infrastructure, including uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, power distribution units (PDUs), cooling systems and fire-suppression systems.

• Conduct regular environmental checks, including temperature, humidity and water-leak monitoring.

• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to resolve infrastructure issues.

• Support facility maintenance activities and equipment installations.

• Maintain proper cable management and facility organisation.

• Ensure the facility remains clean, operational and ready for use.

Physical Security

• Monitor and manage access-control systems and CCTV operations.

• Manage visitors and perform escort duties when required.

• Maintain security logs and access records.

• Ensure compliance with physical-security policies and procedures.

• Report security incidents, irregularities and anomalies promptly.

IT Operations

• Monitor the health, availability and performance of IT systems.

• Perform basic system administration and troubleshooting.

• Support backup operations and disaster-recovery procedures.

• Process service requests and assist with incident management.

• Support change-management activities.

• Monitor security alerts and conduct basic security checks.

• Assist with user-access management.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain facility layouts and infrastructure records.

• Update system and operational documentation.

• Track IT and infrastructure assets.

• Record operational activities and incidents.

• Prepare regular operational reports.

• Ensure maintenance records remain accurate and up to date.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Facilities Management or a related field.

• Experience in IT operations, infrastructure support or data-centre operations.

• Good understanding of infrastructure systems and IT operations.

• Knowledge of security principles and compliance requirements.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and coordination abilities.

• Willingness and ability to work shifts or respond to emergencies when required.

Preferred Certifications

• ITIL Foundation certification.

• Data-centre operations certification.

• Relevant foundational IT infrastructure certification.

• Security awareness certification.
