About the role As an Associate Engineer , you will be responsible for the installation of fibre cable and pipe for new development (commercial, industrial and residential buildings) and backbone fibre network. You will execute all access fibre cable and pipe works in your area of control in accordance with established operation procedures and engineering instructions. Key responsibilities
- Install fibre cable and pipe for new development projects and backbone fibre network
- Execute access fibre cable and pipe works in accordance with established operation procedures and engineering instructions
- Ensure target dates (Customer Ready Date) for all access fibre cable schemes are met
- Manage and control vendor payments after job completion
- Carry out maintenance for fibre cables and pipes and attend to emergency cable breakdowns and system outages during and after office hours
- Attend site meetings with public bodies and private housing developers regarding fibre cable provision
- Provide on-site support in fibre network operations including troubleshooting and rectification of fibre circuits
- Follow safety procedures in accordance with the Work Health and Safety Act and use appropriate safety equipment
- Assist supervisor to spot-check and identify potential safety hazards at site
- Use splicing machine and testing equipment for fibre splicing and fibre testing
About you
- Diploma certification in Engineering, preferably in Telecommunication, or equivalent
- At least 2 years working experience in the same line
- Class 3 driving license (advantageous)
- Good working knowledge of PC applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Good communication skills
- Keen to learn and a team player
