Job Description
Level is a learning technology company dedicated to helping students build real academic and life skills with confidence and joy. We combine proven curriculum principles with world-class interactive design to make meaningful practice something students want to come back to — not something they struggle through.
We support what teachers, schools, and parents are already doing by increasing student engagement with high-quality, standards-aligned practice that reinforces classroom learning. That's why we're building:
For students: Rewarding and motivating learning experiences that meet students where they are to build real academic proficiency.
For educators: Tools that fit naturally into instruction and help students stay engaged without adding workload.
For parents: Support for learning at home in ways that reduce stress and build confidence.
We are committed to helping every person maximize their potential and live a life of meaning. It’s a difficult problem that requires brilliant people and tremendous effort over time.
We’re looking for a hands-on Localization Producer & QA Specialist who loves building repeatable processes from the ground up and then takes ownership in executing them. At Level, we create world-class learning experiences aimed at uplifting millions of kids across the globe. We work with external localization vendors, you will own the entire localization pipeline - from process design to final QA - ensuring every course, app string, video subtitle, illustration, and marketing asset lands in-market on time and at the highest quality.
Responsibilities:
Process Ownership & Vendor Management
Design, document, and continuously improve the end-to-end localization workflow: content extraction → vendor hand-off → review → integration → launch.
Own vendor relationships: select, onboard, brief, and performance-manage multiple localization partners across multiple languages.
Build and maintain a centralized localization kit system (source copy, glossaries, style guides, reference assets, screenshots, context videos) so vendors never guess.
Scheduling & Delivery
Create and drive detailed localization schedules that sync with product roadmaps, content release calendars, and marketing campaigns.
Act as the “traffic controller”, proactively chase internal teams to deliver final copy and assets on the exact dates promised so vendors can start on time.
Manage buffers, critical paths, and risk mitigation so we never miss a launch window.
Content & Asset Handoff
Extract, prepare, and package all source materials (UI strings, course lessons, quizzes, videos, illustrations, audio, PDFs, marketing copy) in the exact formats vendors need.
Implement automated or semi-automated pipelines (using tools like Crowdin, Phrase, GitHub Actions, Figma plugins, etc.) to reduce manual work.
Quality Assurance
Perform thorough linguistic, functional, and cultural QA on every localized deliverable.
Test in-context: app UI in right-to-left languages, subtitle timing, voice-over sync, quiz functionality, image text replacement, etc.
Own the bug triage and re-work process with vendors until 100% sign-off.
Maintain and evolve language-specific QA checklists and style guides tailored to educational content.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner daily with Content, Product, Engineering, Design, and Marketing to forecast localization needs and remove blockers.
Provide clear localization feasibility feedback during planning (word count estimates, asset requirements, timeline impact).
Track budgets, report KPIs (on-time delivery, quality scores, cost per word), and present monthly localization health updates.
Qualifications:
4+ years as a Localization Producer / Project Manager in gaming, SaaS, or consumer-facing tech.
Native-level Spanish speaker - expert proficiency in speaking, writing, and cultural nuance - this is essential for leading QA on our high-priority Spanish-language markets and ensuring educational content feels authentic and pedagogically sound.
Proven experience building localization processes from scratch or significantly scaling them while working exclusively with external vendors.
Strong project management muscle, you live in Jira/Asana/Linear and love Gantt views and burndown charts.
Excellent written and spoken English; at least one additional language at professional level is a big plus.
Deep familiarity with localization tools: Crowdin, Phrase, MemoQ, Smartling, Trados, or equivalent TMS + version control (Git, Figma, etc.).
Obsessive attention to detail and zero tolerance for “it looks fine” QA.
Bonus Points
Professional-level proficiency in one or more additional languages beyond Spanish and English.
Background or passion for education.
Knowledge of internationalization best practices.
