The Opportunity
Join our leadership team as AML/CTF Compliance Director in our Australian entity. You will lead the AML/CTF compliance function, maintain and enhance our AUSTRAC registration and program, serve as the primary point of contact with AUSTRAC, and act as a director of the company. With strong support from RedotPay’s legal team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring full regulatory adherence, mitigating risks, and supporting the entity’s integration into RedotPay’s ambitious global growth in the crypto and payments sector within an innovative, high-stakes culture.
Responsibilities:
- AML/CTF Program Ownership & Oversight: Lead the development, implementation, review, and ongoing enhancement of the AML/CTF Program in line with the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (AML/CTF Act), Rules, and AUSTRAC guidance. Conduct regular risk assessments, transaction monitoring, sanctions/PEP screening, and Travel Rule compliance.
- AUSTRAC Liaison & Regulatory Reporting: Act as the designated AML/CTF Compliance Officer, manage all day-to-day compliance obligations, prepare and submit Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs), Threshold Transaction Reports (TTRs), and other required reports. Oversee responses to any AUSTRAC requests for information (RFIs), audits, or inquiries, ensuring timely, accurate, and confidential submissions.
- Director & Governance Responsibilities: Serve as a director of the Australian entity. Provide board-level oversight of AML/CTF matters, ensure annual compliance reporting to the governing body, maintain fit-and-proper standards for key personnel, and support corporate governance, company secretarial matters, and strategic decision-making in a post-acquisition environment.
- Policy, Training & Culture: Drive organisation-wide AML/CTF awareness, staff training programs, and a strong culture of compliance. Collaborate closely with RedotPay’s global compliance, legal, and operations teams to align local requirements with group standards while preserving the entity’s registration.
Qualifications:
- Education & Professional Background: Tertiary qualification in law, compliance, finance, risk management, or a related field (LLB/JD or equivalent highly regarded). Relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS, or Australian AML/CTF specialist training) are a strong plus.
- Experience: At least 2–3 years of progressive experience in AML/CTF compliance, regulatory affairs, or in-house legal/compliance roles within financial services, payments, crypto, fintech, or DCE/VASP environments. Hands-on experience developing and maintaining an AUSTRAC-compliant AML/CTF Program, managing AUSTRAC interactions, reporting, and audits is essential. Prior experience as a director or in a senior governance role is preferred.
- Australian Citizenship / Permanent Residency & Fit & Proper Person: Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident residing in Australia to meet the resident director requirement under the Corporations Act 2001 and to satisfy AUSTRAC’s expectations for key management personnel. Must also satisfy AUSTRAC’s fit and proper person requirements (competence, diligence, sound judgement, honesty, integrity, and no disqualifying criminal or regulatory history). National Police Check (or equivalent) must be obtainable and clear.
- Skills: Strong strategic thinking, risk assessment, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent research, analytical, drafting, and communication skills (including policy development and regulatory interpretation). Proven ability to work independently in a remote setting while collaborating cross-functionally with global teams. High attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving regulatory landscape.
- Interest and Availability: Genuine passion for crypto, payments, and financial inclusion. Ability to start immediately and commit to a senior leadership role in a high-growth, regulated environment.
